Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Release
How Endoscopic Carpal Tunnel Surgery Works:
A small incision, typically about 1.5 centimeters, is made in the wrist. The endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a camera, is inserted through the incision. The endoscope allows the surgeon to visualize the transverse carpal ligament, while the cannula protects the median nerve. A cutting device, guided by the endoscope, is used to cut the transverse carpal ligament, relieving pressure on the median nerve. Incision Closure: The small incision is closed with stitches or sterile glue.
Many patients experience a faster recovery with less pain and a quicker return to normal activities. Endoscopic surgery may result in less post-operative pain and discomfort.
Depending on the severity of the condition and individual anatomy, endoscopic surgery may not be suitable for all patients.
