🧠 Understanding Stress and Its Impact on Your Brain & Body 🧠

Definition of Stress according to the World Health Organization:

“Stress is a natural human response to a threat or difficult situation that causes a state of mental tension or worry. It can be physiological (chemical), biological (body), and psychological (perceptional).”

Stress affects us more deeply than we often realize.

It has the ability to disrupt autonomic function, leading to imbalances in our body's natural rhythms... creating a vicious cycle that impacts our overall well-being.

The Mental Health Organization in the United Kingdom gives some insight into the physical impact of stress on our body and wellbeing.

“How your body might react:
• Headaches/migraines
• Nausea
• Indigestion (poor nutrient absorption)
• digestive problems such as constipation, bloating or diarrhea
• shallow breathing or hyperventilating
• sweating
• heart palpitations
• aches and pains

How you might behave:
• withdraw from other people or snap at them
• be indecisive or inflexible
• be fearful
• have problems getting to sleep or staying asleep
• experience sexual problems
• smoke, drink alcohol or take drugs more than usual

If the stress is long-lasting, you may notice your sleep and memory are affected, your eating habits change, or you feel less inclined to exercise.

Some research has also linked long-term stress to gastrointestinal conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or stomach ulcers and conditions like cardiovascular disease.”

One of the best ways to help alleviate your body's response to stress is Neuroemotional Technique (NET). NET is a methodology of finding and removing neurological imbalances related to the physiology of unresolved stress that often feel like a unrelenting marry go round.
