Are you looking for ways to get involved and support our community?

PAVSA is currently recruiting volunteers to support survivors of sexual violence in the Duluth hospitals during evening and weekend hours. Having a robust group of volunteers is critical to continuing our 24/7 services. Volunteering with PAVSA is a great way to support survivors in our community, cultivate your crisis intervention and de-escalation skills, and build knowledge of community resources.

Are you interested in becoming a forensic nurse? Great! Most communities have a need for more trained and practicing forensic nurses.

While requirements vary by geographic location and employer, you can usually become employed as a forensic nurse in Minnesota if you:
-Are a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
-Have at least 2 years of experience
-Have completed a 40-hour didactic SANE course

Providing care to patients in acute trauma requires specific skills. Forensic nurses should also:
-Commit to challenging implicit bias and societal myths surrounding gender based violence, and to reduce healthcare disparities among diverse patients
-Develop skills in providing trauma-informed care, ensuring every patient feels safe and supported
-Be prepared to set aside personal opinions and offer all available resources to patients, respecting their choices and autonomy, even when they differ from your own beliefs

Join us every Wednesday in July for We All Do Better | Community Event Series, a relaxed and welcoming community event series dedicated to uplifting gender justice-focused non-profits in our region.

Each week, four incredible organizations—YWCA Duluth, Safe Haven Shelter & Resource Center, PAVSA and WE Health Clinic—will be popping up at a different local brewery or cidery from 5–7pm. These events are all about meeting folks where they are, sparking meaningful conversations, and sharing vital resources that support gender justice and community well-being.

Whether you're curious about the work these organizations do, looking for support, or just want to connect over a drink and good conversation, you're warmly invited to stop by.

Thanks to the fabulous Minnesota Power an ALLETE Company folks who visited our office yesterday to assemble Grounding Kits. They selected our project as part of Head of the Lakes United Way Day of Caring and put together 150 kits. Each kit contains tangible items for survivors to use when they'd like to restore their calm.

PAVSA's licensed Therapists are hosting a weekly Art Group at our building (32 E. 1st Street, Duluth, MN) on Wednesdays from 3-4pm. Supplies are provided, no art experience needed!
