Many musculoskeletal injuries require a look inside your body. In orthopaedics, our two imaging techniques are X-ray and MRI.

▶️ Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a safe, completely painless way for your physician to look into your body. The pictures created during the exam look at the soft tissue and provide information that can improve your diagnosis.

▶️ X-ray is a technique for creating an image of the inside of your body. X-ray images are especially good at showing dense structures, such as bone. These pictures help our physicians clarify and confirm their diagnoses.

For your convenience, we offer both of these services in our main office. If you should need an imaging study, we don’t have to set up another appointment at a different facility - we just walk down the hall.

- Co-pays are due at the time of service.
- All medical services that are not covered by insurance will be the responsibility of the patient.
- As a courtesy to our patients, we file claims with all insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid.
- Arrangements can be made for a payment plan. A financial assistant is available from the business office for this or any other questions you might have.

Orthopaedic Associates is happy to announce Dr. Phillip L. Thomas, M.D. has joined our team as a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in the treatment of sports related injuries!

Dr. Thomas earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He pursued further specialization with an orthopaedic surgery fellowship at Twin Cities Orthopedics. Dr. Thomas’ experience includes serving as team physician for athletes at the University of Minnesota Duluth, the College of St. Scholastica and the University of Wisconsin Superior, as well as St. Mary’s Health Clinic’s Medical Executive Committee’s meeting surgical chair. He is available to see patients at our Rock Ridge and Hibbing Clinics as well as Grand Itasca and Ely Bloomenson Hospital.
