Tomorrow, March 24th, is Disability Services Day at the MN State Capitol!

Kim and Sheila have been hard at work today making signs for the group from RSI who will be in St. Paul advocating for people with disabilities, their necessary support systems, and their right to live independent and rewarding lives.

The Duluth Polar Bear Plunge is almost here! Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday 2/21) at 2:15, RSI's team members will be braving the chilly waters of Lake Superior to support an excellent cause - Special Olympics of Minnesota. ⭐

Meet our new Executive Director, Nicole Lind!

Nicole brings over 25 years of healthcare and human services experience to her new role, starting her career in 2000 as a Direct Support Professional and working her way up through several supervisory and leadership roles. She started with RSI in 2009 as a Program Coordinator in Cook, MN and over time, earned promotions to Program Coordinator 2, Program Manager, and most recently as Senior Director, expanding her role to support our central Minnesota programs and receiving mentorship from our previous Executive Director, Jon Nelson. She has also served as a coach and as Head of the Delegation for Minnesota Special Olympics.

“As Executive Director, I am honored to build on the strong foundation established at RSI and to help pave the way forward so the individuals we support can continue to live the lives they choose and deserve.”

We're excited to announce our 2025 Employee of the Year...

⭐️Pam Hagenah!⭐️

Pam has been an employee at RSI for over 30 years and currently serves as a DSP, Designated Trainer, and Equine Specialist at our Westbrook program in Brookston, MN. It's impossible to overstate the positive impact Pam has had in her three decades at RSI, from the countless lives she's touched, the vast experience and knowledge that she shares with her team, to the support she provides through our Equine Therapy service. Pam is truly irreplaceable.

Our gratitude goes out to all of the 2025 Employee of the Year candidates at RSI. They all continue to make a positive difference in the lives of the people they support, and we appreciate their efforts now more than ever.

We have some big news to share as we enter this season of gratitude! After 40 years of dedicated leadership, our Executive Director, Jon Nelson, will be retiring at the end of 2025. While we’ll miss him deeply, we are so grateful for the lasting impact he’s made on RSI and the people we support.

We’re also thrilled to announce that Nicole Lind will become RSI’s next Executive Director. Nicole has been with RSI since 2009, first serving as a Program Coordinator, then Program Manager, and now as Senior Director. We’re incredibly thankful for the experience, knowledge, and creativity she’ll bring to this role.

Jon said it best himself: “I have been overwhelmed by all the kind words and gestures I have received as RSI has celebrated my coming retirement. I know better than to take all the credit they are giving me. Our success has come from everybody at RSI, especially the employees working directly with the people we support.”

As we reflect on this season of giving, we’re filled with gratitude for Jon’s remarkable 40 years, for Nicole’s leadership ahead, and for everyone who helps move RSI’s mission forward each day. 💙
