It is with deep sadness we share news of the death of Funeral Service Foundation Trustee Todd Van Beck. While Todd only joined the Board of Trustees in Fall 2022, he made invaluable contributions to the Foundation during that time.

Todd was a beloved and trusted colleague and friend to many in funeral service. His countless contributions to funeral service will continue to shape the profession long into the future.

According to several NFDA members, scammers are at it again, this time targeting families you may have served recently.

Using recently published obituaries, the scammer, posing as a member of you staff, calls families and tells them they owe another $1,000 for the service.

According to the NFDA members who alerted NFDA to this scam, the families have called the funeral home back and, thankfully, they were able to clear up the confusion.

You may wish to alert families you have served - and are serving - to this scam and remind them of your billing practices.
