Studies show that regular physical activity is linked to better physical and cognitive health, while social engagement reduces loneliness and improves mental well-being. Irish eyes were smiling as residents of The Winds at Mattern Orchard in Duncansville, Pennsylvania celebrated St. Patrick’s Day 2025 by indulging in Irish foods, learning about Ireland’s history, listening to Irish music, and traveling virtually across the Irish and Scottish countryside. Irish refreshments, such as Soda Bread, Guinness beer, and Irish Butter were served. Several authentic items from Ireland were on display at the celebration, including a beautifully knitted Marino Wool Sweater made from the wool of the Marino sheep of Ireland and a few select pieces from our Activity Director’s Belleek Irish porcelain collection.

❤️❤️ Love was in the air at The Winds in Duncansville (Pennsylvania) for our Valentine Sweetheart Social! 💝🌹
Residents danced and swayed to a variety of special Valentine music. Each resident received a long-stemmed rose, Valentine balloon and indulged in a wide array of heart-shaped Valentine treats. Special thanks to our local Dollar General for donating balloons, DJ-JT for donating his time and equipment, and our awesome Life Engagement Manager, Jodi, for pulling it all together! 💕❤️💕

Not only does Lynn provide quality salon services to our residents, but she also brings a caring spirit and infectious smile with her!

Here at The Winds at Mattern Orchard in Duncansville, Pennsylvania, we strive to break age-related stereo types with our residents. Meet Maria! Maria just had her 103rd birthday on December 6th, 2024! The life of almost all of our music-related activities, Maria doesn’t miss a single session of her favorite workout, cardio drumming! Maria is living proof that age really is just a number and staying active is a key component of longevity.
