Lighting the Way for Breast Cancer Awareness 🎀

As October comes to a close, Mease Dunedin Hospital is glowing pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the City in Pink campaign. 💡🩷

Throughout the month, all of BayCare’s hospitals have joined businesses across Tampa Bay in lighting their buildings pink to shine a light on breast cancer — the second leading cause of cancer death among women in the United States.

We’re proud to stand with BayCare and our Dunedin community to raise awareness and remind everyone of the importance of early detection.

Early detection is vital — make regular mammograms and monthly self-examinations part of your routine. 💕 Learn more about BayCare’s comprehensive breast health services here: https://bit.ly/46rFJMi

When Lalita went in for her annual mammogram, she didn’t expect any surprises. At 55, she’d always assumed her smaller breast size meant her risk for breast cancer was low.

“I just thought that because my breasts were small, I couldn’t get breast cancer,” Lalita said. “I used to joke before mammograms, wondering if there was even enough to squish. I never imagined anything would show up.”

This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lalita is speaking out to remind others that size doesn’t determine risk — and that regular screenings can save lives. 🎀

Don’t let misconceptions stop you from a life-saving breast cancer screening. BayCare experts debunk mammogram myths and share how annual screenings save lives.

A major milestone for behavioral health in our community! 💙

BayCare recently broke ground on Pasco County’s first Central Receiving Facility (CRF) — a dedicated resource for crisis intervention, assessment and referral services for individuals experiencing mental health or substance-use crises. Located on the BayCare Behavioral Health Institute campus in New Port Richey, the CRF is an expansion of the current Interventional Stabilization Unit and will help our region access critical behavioral health support more quickly.

Expected to open next summer, the more than $2 million project was funded through allocations from the State of Florida and a generous gift from our very own Morton Plant Mease Foundation. We are grateful to State Senator Ed Hooper and State Representative Brad Yeager for championing this project and supporting the growth of behavioral health care in our community.

At Mease Dunedin Hospital, we’re proud to honor the legacy of Dr. Jack Mease — a man whose compassion continues to inspire everything we do. 💙 Thank you to the Morton Plant Mease Foundation and artist Julian Hartzog for helping us celebrate his lasting impact with this beautiful new portrait.

Last week, we were honored to attend the unveiling of two new portraits at Mease Dunedin Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital. Artist and Foundation friend, Julian Hartzog, carefully explained his artistic choices in the renderings of Dr. Jack Mease and Morton F. Plant.

Surrounded by hospital leadership, team members, and community supporters, the event celebrated a legacy of philanthropy, compassion, and unwavering dedication to our community. The portraits will be on display in the hospitals as a lasting tribute and source of inspiration for all who walk these halls.

This week, we celebrated our Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) team — the dedicated professionals who are the key ingredient in delivering nutrition excellence to our patients, visitors and team members at Mease Dunedin Hospital. 🍽️❤️

Our FNS team plays a vital role in keeping our hospital running smoothly — preparing delicious, nourishing meals, catering meetings and ensuring every patient receives food tailored to their health needs. Behind the scenes, they manage large inventories and countless details to make sure every tray, plate and cup supports the health and recovery of those we serve.

Throughout the week, we celebrated with fun activities, including a Chipotle lunch, trivia, root beer floats, donuts and bingo, pizza, Chick-fil-A, games and more! 🎉

We wrapped up the week with a very special celebration — Josephine’s Retirement Party! After 22 years with the FNS team, Josephine is proud to be the first in her family to retire from a job. She shared that it feels AMAZING — and she’s excited to spend more time with her family. 💐

Thank you to our incredible FNS team — and congratulations, Josephine! Your hard work, heart and dedication make Mease Dunedin Hospital a brighter (and more flavorful!) place for all. 💙
