Our Story
In the early 1960s, Dr. John A. Mease proposed the idea of building an innovative retirement community in Dunedin, Florida. He envisioned a community where Clearwater-area’s older adults could unburden themselves from the responsibilities of home ownership and enjoy an independent lifestyle, knowing they’d have care available should they ever need it.
More than a half-century has passed since Dr. Mease’s vision became reality — and today more than 350 people from across the country call Mease Manor home. They consider our community an attractive choice because of our independent lifestyle, our location and our not-for-profit status, which ensures our profits go back into our community, not to shareholders.
They’re also drawn to us because they know if they ever need assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care or short-term care, it’s available to them, right on our campus. People who choose our community appreciate the peace of mind in knowing one move gives them the independent lifestyle they want today, with access to the care they may need someday.
Our residents enjoy a vibrant lifestyle fostering independent living, memory care, wellness and good health, and the choice between Membership and Leasing options. Named the first “Community for a Lifetime” in Florida, Dunedin has taken special steps to ensure our city is senior-friendly. With walkable streets, quaint shops, exceptional restaurants, world-famous beaches, and outstanding programs and services, Dunedin is the ideal place to retire in style. We are also easily accessible from Palm Harbor, Tarpon Springs, Clearwater, Largo, Safety Harbor, Oldsmar and Tampa.
