As a midwife, I have been blessed to witness birth in many forms; peaceful water births at home, triumphant VBACs, planned cesareans filled with intention and love, medicated hospital births, and incredible unmedicated births full of strength and surrender.

And here is what I know with my whole heart:
I don’t care how you birth.
I care that you felt informed, safe, supported, and respected every step of the way.

Whether you welcomed your baby in your living room surrounded by candlelight, in a hospital under bright lights, with an epidural, through cesarean, or in a moment of powerful instinct in nature; your birth is valid. Your birth is sacred.

Birth is not about proving anything.
It is not a competition or a standard to meet.

It is a deeply personal journey of strength, love, and vulnerability.

My prayer for every mother:
May your birth be one you look back on with peace, empowerment, and pride; knowing you were heard, honored, and held.

You deserved options.
You deserved support.
You deserved respect.

August 5th marked 20 years since I stepped into the world of midwifery.

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of supporting families as they welcomed their babies at home, in birth centers, and in hospitals. My heart has always been to support families wherever they choose to bring their babies earthside. As a midwife, I strive to walk beside families through every part of their care and to support the choices that feel right for them.

This past year has been one of the busiest with the largest patient load our practice has ever seen. Through it all, I have been immeasurably blessed by the love, trust, and support of this incredible community.

Our gathering was not just a celebration of my 20 years in midwifery, but also a celebration of the families who have been part of this journey. Each of you holds a special place in my heart.

Thank you to each of you who donated toward the beautiful gift and the generous monetary contribution. Once again, I cannot explain how blessed I feel. Each of your names was written on the card, and I was so overwhelmed with gratitude as I read it (in front of a crowd of course!). Some of you know exactly who you are — we’ve walked through the thick of it together. And some of you were in my care when I was just a little baby midwife. (Due to hipaa I can’t tag you ladies in this post.)

I want to acknowledge every single one of you. This was such a surprise, and even if you couldn’t be present, I truly felt your love and presence in that moment.

I would have loved to have a bigger celebration and to invite every family who has touched my life over the past two decades. I’m so sorry we couldn’t include everyone this time; but with only a few weeks to plan, it was best to keep it small and simple. Especially considering that I delivered three babies during this very week, two in the days leading up to it, and one right after! 💗

My heart is so full! Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Here’s to the next chapter, and to the families who continue to make this work such a gift. ❤️

The big scary “cord around the neck” scenario. It happens around 1/3 of the time and it is typically either slipped over the head as the head emerges or the “necklace” is unraveled before the baby is lifted to mom’s chest.

Not nearly as scary as some would think. Please have this conversation with your provider if you have questions!

This baby also has the hand next to the face which can make mom work a little harder to get baby earthside.

Welcome to the world Baby boy Jett. My favorite part of your birth was minutes before you were born; when your mom sweetly said… I’m not even in pain 🙌💗

I love the moments that bring you back to a moment. Each one of these women and babies have given me memories I hope to have for a lifetime; as well as their friendship. Thank you for organizing this quick little get together so that I could love on some babies.

If you missed this one please know that when I have free time I’ll organize our annual get together that was bumped this year due to babies. I look forward to seeing each and every one of you soon.

Ps you shouldn’t have to be pregnant to see your midwife 😘

At 34 weeks pregnant we had to quickly formulate not only a new birth plan but also a cardiac surgery immediately after birth. To hold this healthy little boy is nothing short of a miracle!

This family so gracefully navigated these changes and were so thankful for every part of the team taking care of mom and the baby.

I was and continue to be so blessed to be apart of their story!

Welcome to the world Olivia!!!! Isn’t she just so cute and snuggly!!!! Thank you to this beautiful family for sharing these moments with the world!

Every generation is influenced by the one proceeding it! Olivia will grow up knowing that she has options. Her birth and life will impact others knowing that they too can give birth safely at home! 💗 When we share our positive stories and pictures we take the fear out of childbirth 💗

It’s been a summer packed with babies and as postpartum appointments start to come to an end. I’m reminded by babies like Brody to slow down and soak it all in!

As we celebrate Mara and Daisy I’m reminded what an amazing life I lead!

The families I become a part of and the friendships that are forged are forever a part of who I am.

It was so wonderful to see so many families in one place!

Thank you again for inviting to such a beautiful sprinkle!

Its sad but it's true! "Low risk" pregnancies often become high risk due to certain hospital protocols. 😞 Know you're options! Find a provider that you trust! And if you do choose or need to have a hospital birth... GET A DOULA!!!

Grateful to have assisted a family in the hospital this weekend that NEEDED to deliver in the hospital. While we are so very thankful for doctors & hospitals when we need them… if you are LOW RISK… please know your options!
