💳 Michele is our patient check-out specialist, making sure everything at the end of your visit is handled smoothly and accurately. She also takes special care to ensure your contact lens orders are processed correctly so you get exactly what you need.

Our Crossville office runs smoothly thanks to the dedication and skill of incredible team members like Beth and Stephanie — and today, we want to shine a light on them!

🗂 Beth is our insurance expert, making sure the behind-the-scenes details are handled with precision so our patients have a seamless experience. She also steps in as a backup receptionist whenever needed, always ready to greet patients with a smile.

👁 Stephanie is our special testing technician, performing advanced diagnostic tests for conditions such as Glaucoma and Macular Degeneration to help protect and preserve our patients’ vision. She also works in insurance claim filing and serves as a backup ophthalmic technician, showing her versatility and dedication.

🌟 Team Spotlight: Christina & Breana at Boyd Family Eyecare – Crossville 🌟

At Boyd Family Eyecare, we’re proud to have a team that truly cares — and today we want to highlight two amazing team members who help keep our Crossville office running smoothly.

💬 Christina is the friendly face and voice that welcomes you when you arrive or call. As our receptionist, she sets the tone for your visit with her warm, personal greetings and plays a key role in making sure you’re prepared for an excellent eye care experience from the moment you step through the door.

🔧 Breana is our go-to “utility player” — and we mean that in the best way! She handles insurance verifications, assists at both check-in and check-out, helps as a backup ophthalmic technician, and even adjusts glasses when needed. Her versatility and willingness to jump in wherever she’s needed make her an invaluable part of our team.

🎒📚 What Kids Say When They Can't See Well
As the first full day of school kicks off on August 11, it’s a great time to check in on more than just homework and schedules — your child’s vision might need a refresh too. 👀
Sometimes the first signs of a vision problem show up in the classroom. Kids may not know they’re supposed to be seeing things more clearly — which means they may not speak up unless you ask.
🗣️ Parents — ask your child: “Can you see what the teacher writes on the board?”
A child struggling to see might say things like:
🔸 “The teacher’s writing is too light”
🔸 “I can’t read it when they use red or blue markers”
🔸 “It’s blurry when I sit in the back”
🔸 “I can’t see what page we’re on”
🔸 “It looks like the teacher isn’t pressing hard enough”
These types of comments often mean their eyes are having trouble, especially when contrast is low (like red on a whiteboard) or the writing isn’t bold enough for them to pick up clearly.
Other common signs of vision trouble include:
🔹 Squinting or tilting the head
🔹 Headaches after reading
🔹 Sitting too close to screens
🔹 Losing place while reading
🔹 Trouble focusing in class
