💜 Switching Blood Thinners During Pregnancy 💜
Hi everyone, I wanted to share something important about my pregnancy and my health journey. I recently had to switch from Xarelto tablets to Lovenox injections, which I now have to take once a day for the rest of my pregnancy. This is to help prevent any more clots from forming - pregnancy increases my risk, especially since we I’ve had two pulmonary embolisms in 2017 and a clot in my leg in July 2022, which I still have.
I had to do Lovenox for 5 days before a recent dental implant surgery, and honestly, I hated it. Even though I’ve been clean from IV drugs for over 7 years, needles still make me anxious -
plus I’m worried about bruising on my belly from the injections 😭.
I wanted to share this because pregnancy can bring unique challenges for people in recovery, especially when health risks like clotting are involved. Managing fear, discomfort, and self-care is all part of staying safe and strong.
If you’re in a similar situation, know that it’s okay to be scared - but your safety and your baby’s safety are worth it.
💜Sending love to anyone navigating medical challenges in pregnancy 💜
