Marc Gold & Associates The people who try another way, and have been since 1976.

Through our customized employment training, we reframe the way employment looks for people impacted by significant disabilities.

Marc Gold & Associates is honored to partner with the Illinois Council on Developmental Disabilities (ICDD) in presenting the Provider Transformation Cohort Webinar Series.

This five-part series brings providers together to explore Discovery, Customized Employment, and Systematic Instruction—approaches that help spark new ideas for supporting job seekers on their path to meaningful work and community life.

We are grateful for the chance to collaborate with ICDD and celebrate the important work happening across Illinois to advance opportunities and transform services for people with disabilities. Together, we’re re-imagining what’s possible.

MG&A is happy to be with our colleagues in Louisville, KY to conduct an in-person Systematic Instruction training for Edge Employment and Mattingly Edge. While there was a brief moment where we thought this training may not be possible due to a last minute venue cancellation because of lost AC in this heat, we pushed on because MG&A was founded on the principle of "Try Another Way". Everyone came together to brainstorm, and our friends at ZG zoomgroup were able to provide a room for training. We are honored to carry on the legacy of Systematic Instruction that Marc Gold started back in the 70's.

What is Discovery? Discovery describes the many facets and processes that go into truly learning and understanding the job seeker. Knowing the likes, dislikes, challenges and support needs, and capabilities and interests of the job seeker provides unique insight into the potential positions they in which they could participate and contribute. Combined with a Benefits & Needs Analysis of potential employers, Discovery has become a powerful tool in finding and customizing the best fit for job seekers.⁣

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲, 𝐌𝐆&𝐀: The term “Discovery” as we know it today wasn’t used until 1996 when Michael Callahan suggested the term to represent the qualitative process used to develop the information that would be put into a vocational profile document about a job seeker.⁣

This alternative to vocational assessment sought to describe job seekers through narrative documentation with the idea that observation and in-the-moment experiences would give a more accurate picture of the job seeker than a test ever could. Today it is used throughout the disability employment field!
