BrainTap: A Simple Explanation
Imagine your brain like a bustling city. Sometimes, it gets overloaded with traffic (stress and distractions) and needs a way to calm down and focus.
BrainTap is like a shortcut to getting your brain into a relaxed and focused state, similar to deep meditation but without needing years of practice.
How it works:
BrainTap uses a special headset with both lights and sounds.
Lights: Gentle light pulses flash through your eyes and ears.
Sounds: Special tones, called binaural beats and isochronic tones, are played through headphones.
These lights and sounds work together to:
Guide your brainwaves: Your brain naturally follows rhythms, and BrainTap uses light and sound patterns to guide your brainwaves into beneficial states like relaxation and focus.
Promote deep relaxation: This process helps calm your nervous system and reduce stress, like a "mental reset".
Enhance mental clarity and focus: By balancing brain activity, BrainTap can improve your ability to concentrate and think clearly.
Think of it like this:
Imagine you're trying to learn something new. If you're stressed and distracted, it's hard to focus. BrainTap helps quiet that mental chatter and puts your brain in a state where it's more receptive to learning and positive change.
In short, BrainTap is a technology that helps you achieve deep relaxation, reduce stress, and improve your mental performance by using a combination of light and sound. It's like giving your brain a workout that helps it function at its best.

Ask us about BrainTap:

"Imagine giving your brain a mini-vacation that leaves you feeling refreshed and focused. That's essentially what BrainTap aims to do!
Think of it like this:
The brain operates at different "speeds," or brainwave states. Stress can make it hard to relax or focus.
BrainTap helps you shift gears using a special headset.
How it works:
Light and Sound Show: The headset uses gentle light pulses and specific sounds, like binaural beats and isochronic tones.

Brainwave Dance: The brain naturally follows these rhythms.
Chill Out: This guides the brain into calmer, more relaxed states, like Alpha or Theta waves, which are linked to creativity and deep relaxation.
Benefits Beyond Relaxation: This process can help with things like:
Reduced stress and anxiety
Improved sleep quality
Better focus and mental clarity
Enhanced positive thinking
Think of it as:
Brainwave training: Helping the brain get better at producing different brainwave patterns, leading to improved function.
A workout for your brain: Encouraging the brain to be more flexible and adaptable.
Getting benefits of meditation without years of practice: It can achieve similar results to meditation without the need for disciplined effort.
In simpler terms: BrainTap uses light and sound to gently guide the brain into relaxed states, helping reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being"""

Hey there,
My name is Amanda Bryant, I will be a counseling intern at Tapestry. I have a bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communication, and I am currently working on my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University.
I love walking alongside women and/or couples in the healing and growth process. If I get the pleasure of working with you, you will find a safe and nurturing place which will help us focus on identifying and changing any negative patterns/behaviors for better well-being overall. I love Jesus and believe that He has designed each of us uniquely and believe in meeting people where they are.
Just a little bit about me, my husband and I have three daughters and two granddaughters. We love our family and spending time with each other is our favorite hobby. The ocean is a place of healing for me, and I look for any opportunity I can to go there!

Hi, I’m Will Irving , a counseling intern at Tapestry. I am a Marine Corps Veteran and Law Enforcement Officer. I am passionate about meeting people where they are and walking alongside their journey toward healing and growth. I’m currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University, where I also earned my Bachelor’s degree in Crisis Counseling.

I am happy to work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I am extremely passionate about helping individuals who have experienced traumatic events. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where we can identify challenges, triggers, build resilience, and reframe negative thoughts.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my wife, and five children. I also enjoy exercising, and spending time with my horses.

I am very eager to grow as a counselor and am so grateful to be a part of Tapestry Counseling!

“Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say: ‘My tooth is aching’, than to say: ‘My heart is broken.’" ~ C.S. Lewis

Welcome back, Sara Gonzalez. Sara is no longer an intern. She is officially an LCMHC-A! This means that she has graduated with her Masters from Mt Olive and has passed the required test for licensure. We are so excited that she has chosen to stay with us at Tapestry!

For those of you who have not met Sara, here is her initial introduction:

I am happily married to a wonderful husband. We have two children, a handsome boy, and a beautiful baby girl.

I have a bachelor’s degree in education and have taught for three years with ages ranging from five years old to eight years old. I have learned that each child has specific needs and I’ve learned the importance of meeting each child where they are. As a teacher, you learn that a child's emotional needs are just as important as their academic ones. You discover that creating a supportive and nurturing environment is crucial for their overall well-being. I have learned within my teaching career, to meet the needs of not only children, but adults as well. We must foster empathy, communication skills, and patience. Interacting with colleagues, parents, and administrators, I have learned to navigate diverse personalities and perspectives.

As a cancer survivor, becoming a mental health counselor allows me to channel my experiences into supporting others through their own mental health challenges.
