George Gould, Sr. Obituary
George Ellis Gould, 88, of Citrus Springs, FL, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024 at E. W. Lucille Cates Hospice House in Ocala from double pneumonia and other complications. As a young man, George joined the United States Army and was a Tanker during the Korean War. While living in Dunnellon, He owned and operated Gould’s Auto and Repair Shops on both sides of Hwy 41 in Dunnellon. He loved his work being an auto mechanic and worked up until he was eighty years old before retiring. George volunteered his time as a member of the Dunnellon Masonic Lodge and the Low 40’s Club. He was loved by many in the community. He was giving person who helped many in need. In his leisure time, George enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, s***t shooting, motorcycling, music, gardening and spending time on his property in Georgia, which he claimed was “heaven on earth”. George was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, FL and was a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi in Blairsville, GA. His family would like to extend their thank yous to Hospice care at Cates House for the wonderful care George received.

He is preceded in death by his son, George Ellis Gould, Jr.



He leaves behind his wife, Marie Fleury-Gould; his daughter, Danita, NY; a grandson, Darren Chappelle and a granddaughter, Nikki Gould, NY; his three great grandchildren; his stepson, Rick Fleury, Beverly Hills and Larry Fleury, Augusta, ME; his step-grandchildren, Derrick Farmer, VT, Tony Fleury, ME, Kyliene Reyes, FL and six step great grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Citrus Springs, FL. Interment will be held at a later date in Maine.

Eugene Middleton Thomas of Dunnellon, FL, passed away on May 7, 2024 in Ocala, FL. Eugene was born in Elkhart, Indiana and was the son to the late Eugene Franklin and Marjorie Joyce Thomas. Eugene attended Bowie State University and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in education. He also attended the University of Virginia and received his second graduate degree. Eugene taught in Indiana and Maryland for over thirty years. In 1995, Eugene received several excellence in Education awards. He was a member of the Mt. Hermon Masonic Lodge # 179 in Hyattsville, Maryland, Fort King Daylight Lodge # 389 and was a perpetual member of the Dunnellon Masonic Lodge #136 and Dunnellon Eastern Star, Chapter #235. He was also a life member of the American Legion Wall-Rives Post # 58 in Dunnellon. For several years he served as a chaplain in the Masons, Eastern Star, and the American Legion. Eugene had been a member of the Marion County County Master Gardener program and a life member of the Marion County Humane Society. He was a president of the Herman B. Oberman Library Board and a tutor/mentor for the Marion Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Eugene is survived by his best friend and wife, Anne-Marie; his son, William E. Thomas; his many good friends and beloved pets, Carrie Anne Thomas (Cat) and Sean Brisket.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 11:00 Am at First Methodist Church in Dunnellon. Interment will be held at a later date in Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana.

His family prefers, in lieu of flowers or plants, memorial contributions can be made to Sheltering Hands Inc, Animal Rescue, 10397 N. US Hwy 27, Ocala, FL 34482.
