We are incredibly proud to share that Dr. Benza received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award today from Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for her exceptional work with pediatric residents and Emory medical students🥳👏🏽

It is truly a joy and privilege to welcome students and residents into our clinic as they learn the art and heart of pediatrics. Watching the next generation of pediatricians grow, right here in our own practice, is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.

We know it can be frustrating when your child isn’t prescribed antibiotics, but here’s why we’re careful:
🔹 Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.
Many childhood illnesses, especially during peak respiratory season, are caused by viruses, which do not get better with antibiotics.
🔹 Using antibiotics when they’re not needed can do more harm than good.
❌🚨Please avoid giving leftover or over-the-counter antibiotics.

What We’re Seeing Right Now➡️Lots of Flu A😢
Flu A is a viral infection, meaning antibiotics will not help.
We will talk with you about whether Tamiflu is right for your child.

Our respiratory viruses have arrived😓😷Dr. Benza and Dr. Sandoval have both seen Flua cases this week, so we can officially say that flu season is here. We’re also seeing plenty of bronchiolitis cases in little ones.

Good news is…There’s still time to get your flu vaccine💉
If your baby is younger than 8 months, they may also be eligible for RSV immunization.

Prevention tips:
✔️Get vaccinated
✔️Wash hands often
✔️Stay home when feeling sick

Today marks the end of OPEX year for our amazing medical student, Nina!

Nina joined us as a fresh first-year medical student🩺 and what a year it has been! A year full of learning, growth, hard work, a few tears, and even more laughter. 💙

We are so grateful to our wonderful patients and families for partnering with us in teaching the next generation of doctors🥼Your kindness and patience make this all possible🙏🏽

We’ll miss you, Nina! Thank you for being part of our team, and we can’t wait to see you back as a third-year medical student🌟

Dr. Benza’s kids are fully vaccinated for this respiratory season! ✅💉

They got their flu vaccine a few weeks ago, and today it was time for the COVID vaccine. As expected, not all the kids were thrilled about it (a few tears were definitely involved 😅), but that moment of discomfort is nothing compared to what the flu or COVID can do without protection.

The flu isn’t “just the flu.” It can cause serious complications like pneumonia, heart inflammation, and even neurological issues.
COVID It’s still around and can cause severe illness, long COVID, and in some cases, a dangerous inflammatory condition in children.

As pediatricians, and parents, we trust the science enough to vaccinate our own children. 💙

This year, we’re grateful to have protection against flu, COVID, and RSV. And we’re especially thankful that so many of our families are saying YES to protecting their kids too. 👏🏽🙌🏽

Some days, I spend so much time talking about baby p**p 💩and honestly, if you’re a parent, you probably do too! It’s wild how quickly p**p becomes one of the most analyzed parts of your baby’s day😅

I like to tell parents to imagine the full range of military colors when thinking about what’s “normal” for baby stool, from mustard yellow to army green to brown. But for those times when you’re just not sure if what you’re seeing is okay

Highlight of the week ⭐️ This week, we had a very special little visitor—Dr. Wagner’s baby! 💕
She received her RSV immunization today, right here in the clinic and had the best care by Dr.Sandoval.

As pediatricians, we’re proud to say that we believe so strongly in the safety and effectiveness of vaccines that we trust them for our own children.

Dr. Benza was honored to receive a scholarship from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Council on Children with Disabilities (COCWD).

As part of this opportunity, she engaged in meaningful discussions on how to better support children with disabilities, centered around compassion, inclusion, and EVIDENCED BASED care🔬🩺

One of the most valuable aspects of this experience was the space for open, honest conversations about trending medical topics that are often misrepresented in the media. From vaccines to Tylenol to leucovorin, many topics spark questions and concerns, especially when misinformation spreads without scientific backing😓
