As the weather warms up, we love seeing our kiddos spending more time outside enjoying fresh air and sunshine! ☀️🚲🛴
Just a friendly reminder to keep safety first:
Helmets should be worn every time your child rides a bike or scooter. They play a crucial role in preventing serious head injuries.

Let’s make safe habits part of every adventure💙

Nosebleeds (epistaxis) can look scary, but most are easy to manage at home 🩸🏡

Here’s what to do:
• Keep the head upright, do NOT tilt the head back
• Lean slightly forward to avoid swallowing blood
• Apply firm pressure by pinching the soft part of the nose for 10–15 minutes (don’t keep checking!)
• Stay calm and still while holding pressure

If you’re unsure, it’s always okay to reach out📲we’re here to help!

Thank you to this family for allowing us to share this photo 💙
Umbilical hernias are very common in infants, and this is an important reminder of what not to do.
🚫 Please do not tape, strap, or place objects over the hernia.
These methods do not help and can actually cause harm.

✨ The good news:
Most umbilical hernias close on their own as your child grows. We simply monitor them over time, and if it has not resolved by around age 4, we can refer to a specialist for further evaluation.

One of the most rewarding parts of teaching at OPEX at Emory School of Medicine is meeting first year medical students at the very beginning of their journey. They arrive with a mix of excitement, nerves, dreams, and big expectations💫
It’s our first opportunity to show them that being a physician i one of the most meaningful and rewarding professions there is🩺🥼🤍

Today we are incredibly proud to celebrate Dr. Benza, who was awarded the OPEX Preceptor of the Year Award by 🎉🎊

Once again, to all of our families and patients, thank you for allowing students and residents to learn from you🙌🏽

We’ve had so many sweet newborn visits over the past week and the last couple of days, and we absolutely love these first special appointments with families!👶🏽🍼

One of the most common questions we hear from new parents is: “How much can my baby actually see?” 👀

Newborn vision is still developing, and babies can only see about 8–12 inches away in the first few weeks, which is just about the distance from your arms to your face while feeding or cuddling. 🤱

This chart gives a helpful look at how a baby’s vision develops over the first few months.

Even though your newborn can’t see you clearly yet, they know your voice. Talking, reading, and singing to your baby helps build connection and supports early development. 🎶📖

These first moments are so special, and we love being part of them ❤️

First week of March is in the books! 📚
We’re continuing to see a lot of vomiting and diarrhea in our clinic right now. A very common question parents ask is:
“What kind of fluids should I be giving my child?”
👶🏽6 months – 1 year
• Undiluted breast milk or formula
• If not tolerated, consider a commercial oral rehydration solution that contains sugars and salts
• Do NOT give water‼️‼️‼️

👧🏽1 year and older
• Commercial oral rehydration solutions (liquid or popsicles)
• Diluted apple juice or sports drink (½ water / ½ drink)

As always, we offer same day appointments, and a doctor is always on call when the clinic is closed🩺👩🏽‍⚕️

Donating blood was such a fun experience today🩸🅾️
I got to meet some incredible people and celebrate ’ 53rd birthday while raising awareness about the importance of blood donation. What a meaningful way to celebrate🎂

There’s currently a serious shortage of blood in our community, and we need your help‼️
The whole process takes about 45 minutes from start to finish. You get to chat with new people, enjoy some snacks, relax and most importantly, save lives.
Donating blood isn’t just a good thing to do for others, it’s also good for your body.

Let’s show up for each other💪🏽🙌🏽GiveBlood ❤️
