The Berman Center

The Berman Center We are a spiritual-based Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults, age 18 and older, who suffer This was the genesis of The Berman Center.

In 2013, a very talented, beautiful, and spirited young Jewish woman who suffered from addiction lost her life a few days before her 21st birthday. The mother of this young woman and Alyza Berman discussed at length how to prevent further losses by bringing together resources in our community to effectively address substance abuse. The dove in the logo originated from the beautiful artwork created by the young Jewish woman who lost her life so early. We hope that it provides a lasting inspiration and legacy to address addiction. Alyza dedicates the Berman Center in her memory.

Courage in recovery doesn’t always look the way people expect.

Some days it’s speaking honestly in therapy.
Some days it’s asking for help.
Some days it’s simply choosing to keep going.

At The Berman Center, we see that courage every day. Healing happens step by step, and no one has to walk that path alone.

If you or someone you love is struggling, support is here.

What if changing your thoughts could help change your recovery?

At Berman Center, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a key part of addiction treatment. CBT helps people recognize negative thought patterns that can fuel substance use and replace them with healthier ways of thinking and responding to stress, triggers, and emotions.

It’s a practical, evidence-based approach that supports long-term recovery.

Anxiety is a common and natural response to stress, but for many, it can escalate into a chronic condition that affects daily life. While we often hear about visible symptoms of anxiety attacks—such as rapid breathing, sweating, or trembling—there is another type of anxiety attack that is less obvious, yet just as debilitating: the silent anxiety attack.

At The Berman Center, we believe it’s essential to understand these more subtle signs, as they can be just as impactful on mental and physical health. In this blog, we’ll discuss the symptoms of a silent anxiety attack and how they differ from traditional anxiety attacks, offering helpful insight into recognizing and managing them.

Addiction doesn’t just affect the individual struggling with substance use or behavioral issues—it impacts the entire family. This is why family therapy for addiction is such a vital part of the recovery process.

At The Berman Center, we understand that healing from addiction requires not only treating the individual but also addressing the dynamics that contribute to the addiction and those that are impacted by it. In this blog, we’ll explore why family therapy matters when it comes to addiction recovery and how it can make a transformative difference in the healing journey.
