Resilience Yoga continues this Monday evening with a class focused on Depression and Helplessness.

If you are feeling down, stuck, or generally powerless, this practice will provide tools to energize, build self-esteem, and reignite passion, purpose, and sense of personal power.

We will practice movement and asana, stimulating breath work, mantra, mudra, and guided meditation. Tune in live from the comfort of your home, or catch the replay later if that works better for your schedule.

We gather for the live practice from 5:30-6:45 pm MT. Please visit birdsongyogatherapy.com/upcoming-events/ for details and registration.

I am feeling lots of anger right now because of the systematic dismantling of environmental, educational, charitable, and equitable programs in this country that I care deeply about. I am equally enraged at the fear, hate, discrimination, and outright stripping of rights being directed at the LGBTQ community.

I can’t possibly list all of the things that bring up anger in me, and I know I don’t have the bandwidth to take on the activist role for all of the issue I care about. What I CAN do is self-care practices to address my anger, and I’d like to share some of these with my virtual community who may be looking for tools to help themselves in this moment in time.

The next class in the Resilience Yoga series will focus on managing anger. This class meets on Zoom next Monday, 5:30 – 6:45 pm MT, but will be recorded for those unable to attend live. I will guide you through movement and posture, breath, mudra, mantra, and guided meditation to help you acknowledge your feelings, reduce emotional reactivity, calm the mind, and build resilience and steadiness.

Offered on a sliding scale, $15 - $25. Hope on over to birdsongyogatherapy.com/upcoming-events/ for details and registration.

OK, for those of you looking for tools and support to cope with the chaos of the times, I'm going to start here.

Resilience Yoga is a 4-part class virtual series to build and maintain resilience in uncertain times.

Classes meet virtually, 5:30-6:45 pm MT on Mondays. Each class will include all of the tools of yoga, not just postures/movements, and will focus on a different theme.

You can sign up for classes individually, or take them all.

I want this to be affordable and accessible, so I am offering classes on a sliding scale, $15-$25. If you would like to participate and are unable to swing this price range, please DM me. No one will be turned away due to $$$.

So many people are in desperate need of self-regulation techniques right now.

I am so grateful for the tools I’ve learned as a Yoga Therapist for my own self-care, and I feel called to offer a virtual class to help people cope and develop resilience.

Hallelujah for the snow...but I can't get out of my driveway 🤪

Approaching 10 inches at my house and no sign of the plow, so Yin Yoga at Yogadurango is canceled this morning.

Enjoy your home practice and if you can, get outside and play in the snow today!

In addition to my yoga and meditation practice, I am a gym rat and have been for a long time. Lifting weights makes me feel strong and helps me move difficult emotions that sometimes get stuck in my body.

The event unfolding in the US over the past few weeks have brought up increasing amounts of rage. My biological research and consulting business is at risk, and its future is uncertain. Every day I wake up and immediately check on our contracts to ensure they have not been halted or cancelled without warning. It’s a terrible way to live, not knowing if you will have financial security beyond the current day.

So now I’m been doing what I call the Rage Workout. Channeling all my rage and fear and other challenging feelings and emotions into strength-building movement coordinated with intentional breath. It has helped to keep my mind clear and my nervous system regulated throughout my day.

Movement is critical to staying in balance through all aspects of our being. Body, mind, and spirit, movement affects all of you. If you are feeling intense bouts of emotions right now, I encourage you to turn to your movement practice as well as self-regulation techniques.

Whatever movement practice you enjoy, do it. Let it help you to feel strong, not helpless. Let it help you to quiet your mind and build clarity, so you can take meaningful action as you need to.

Keep moving forward!

Muladhara, the Root Chakra, governs the coccygeal plexus, eliminatory system, adrenals, legs and feet, as well as all of the structural parts of the body (e.g., skin, bones). Imbalances at the Muladhara Chakra may affect our sense of safety, security, stability, and trust. In essence, we cannot realize our full potential as a human unless we are safe and firmly rooted.

The first class in the Journey Through the Chakras 6-week series meets this Thursday, February 6th from 6 to 7:30 pm. Together, we will explore grounding yoga techniques that create ideal conditions for physical, mental/emotional, and spiritual expansion.

Classes in this series include mudra, mantra, pranayama, and asana to balance the flow of vital life force energy (prana) in and out of the Chakras. You will receive information each week about the qualities of each Chakra and suggested yoga practices for balance.

Drop in to any for $30 or sign up for the entire series for $150. Visit Yogadurango.com/workshops/ for details and registration.

Hope to see you on the mat!
