Jaw and facial pain can significantly impact a person's quality of life. Many providers focus only on the "occlusion," which is the way the teeth go together when one bites. Jaw and facial pain is far more complex than "the bite."

Several components need to be assessed and find what are the contributing factors. As we say in the video, stress has a rather small role in the overall scheme. Some examples of the areas that need to be assessed are: breathing, swallowing, muscle palpation, were teeth extracted for orthodontic reasons, muscle compensation, and others.

Many dentists will do an occlusal guard, splint, or night guard to help. Sometimes that can help, but most of the time it only protects the teeth from the clenching/grinding when the issue is much larger.

We offer several treatment options, such as: low-level laser therapy (LLLT), needling, trigger point injections, neuromodulator therapy, and more. Based on your situation and condition, we will recommend treatment options for you.

Protecting what others can't, one tooth at a time.

In this second segment, we will discuss how a "specialist" recommends the extraction of a couple of teeth, while an expert at saving and retaining teeth provides insight into what can be done to save teeth. Often, a "specialist" has a University degree, which does not make them an automatic expert at saving teeth. An expert in saving teeth possesses specialized skills, extensive knowledge, and relies on research to understand the biology of the process. They utilize advanced technology and equipment to preserve your natural teeth.

Our own natural teeth are so much better than artificial prosthetic dental implants. What would you say if you had an ingrown fingernail and the doctor said they would remove the whole finger and give you a prosthetic finger!? Yet in dentistry, the trend is to remove the body part and do a prosthetic. You need to search out who can save the tooth, find an expert at saving teeth!!

Infected tooth –> treated -> healed
1. There is a large cavity and an infection at the end of the tooth
2. Shows the finished root canal, we got out the cavity and filled it.
3. After 6 months of healing. We see the infected area resolved; the body was able to heal the area after the root canal.
If, however, the infection did not resolve, the next step is an apicoectomy. In an apicoectomy we remove the end of the root, place what we call a retrofilling, and then the body will heal the area and the tooth is saved.
Too frequently, most dentists are quick to say the root canal did not work and want to take the tooth out and do an implant. Our own teeth are better than implants, they last longer and have fewer issues. Find an expert, like us, to help you save your teeth.

Dr. Miner did an apicoectomy for Jerry. We know from research that a certain percentage of root canals will not heal properly. That is not a good enough reason to extract a tooth. An apicoectomy is what should be done when a root canal does not show healing.
An apicoectomy is when we do a surgical procedure from the side to save the tooth. We remove the end of the root and place a special filling material into the tooth to seal it. The tooth then has a new lease on life, so to speak, and can last for several years, if not a lifetime with proper care.
We are experts at saving teeth, and we can lower the extraction rate on perfectly salvageable teeth.

While out in nature, Dr. Miner notices the similarities between Mother Nature and root canals. When we do a root canal, we want Mother Nature to finish the job for us. Dr. Miner, an expert at saving teeth, explains how the cementum works like the bark on a tree. We want the body to form a layer of tissue, called cementum, around the end of the root to seal it. Our manmade materials don't seal permanently or as effectively, but Mother Nature does with cementum.

In this first segment, we will discuss how a "specialist" recommends the extraction of a couple of teeth, while an expert at saving and retaining teeth provides insight into what can be done to save teeth. Often, a "specialist" has a University degree, which does not make them an automatic expert at saving teeth. An Expert at saving teeth has skills, expanded knowledge, relies on research, understands biology, uses advanced technology and equipment to be able to keep your natural teeth.

Ira and I at Root Camp. Root Camp is where we transform from average to expert. We learn the skills, knowledge, strategies, and tactics to save and rescue teeth that very few are able to do. So if you need to have a tooth saved, find an expert.

Some of the elite few of us come from far distances to learn and be a part of this, such as my friend Dinh from Vietnam and Zhen Gie from Malaysia. We meet in Texas for this.

At the office, there are several odds and ends to keep it running smoothly. Lights burn out, screws need tightening, and the train was the big project after a computer chip burned out. But we got the train up and running now, thanks in part to the new Soundtraxx computer chip.
