🐾🧡 Rusty & Rosie🧡🐾

Rusty and Rosie are about a year old, long-haired orange tabbies who were born outside and brought in by someone who found them on their property last year.

🏡 Their ideal home:
A safe indoor/outdoor or barn environment where they can have shelter, consistency, and a caregiver who is patient and willing to give them time to settle in at their own pace. With the right setup, they can thrive while continuing to build confidence.

These two aren’t the typical “lap cat” companions — and that’s okay. They’re looking for a special kind of home that understands them for who they are.

If you or someone you know has a barn, shop, or indoor/outdoor setup and a big heart for cats like Rusty and Rosie, please reach out to us. 🐈🐈

J-Lo’s adoption fee is sponsored! 💗
This sweet girl was heartbreakingly left behind when her family moved away, but she is still a total lover who just wants to be close to her person.

Right now, J-Lo is overwhelmed in our space and spends most of her time hiding but when she gets one-on-one attention, she melts into the most affectionate, trusting kitty.

She truly needs a quiet home where she can feel safe, loved, and never left behind again.

If you’ve been looking for a gentle, loving companion, J-Lo is waiting. Please share to help her find her person 💕

Meet Teddy.
This handsome guy came to us from the Mancos/Cortez area and is about 2 years old. With his striking markings, tufted ears, and big blue eyes, Teddy has a wild, bobcat-like look that’s hard to miss.

Teddy is still settling into our space, and as we’ve gotten to know him better, we’ve seen that he’s a confident, independent boy who likes to do things on his own terms. He enjoys attention and has the cutest little meow and chirp, but he’s not afraid to let other cats know when he wants his space.

Because of this, Teddy would do best as the only cat in the home. He’s also shown some territorial behaviors, so he’ll need an environment that gives him room to roam and decompress. An indoor/outdoor home or a setting with safe outdoor access would likely suit him best and help him thrive.

Teddy isn’t for everyone—but for the right person who understands independent, spirited cats, he has the potential to be a truly special companion.

Bridget’s been side-eyeing the cat wheel since 2023… and she’s finally given in!
Yes! We have a small number of cats really do use it. And now Bridget is proof 😸

🐾 Trap–Neuter–Return (TNR) in Action 🐾

We recently completed another TNR project, and it’s a great reminder of how important this work is for our community cats.

TNR (Trap–Neuter–Return) is the most humane and effective way to manage outdoor cat populations. Cats are humanely trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and then returned to the area they call home. This prevents future litters, improves the cats’ health, and helps decrease the amount of homeless kitties in our community.

What many people don’t realize is that TNR takes a lot of coordination, time, and resources. From trapping and transportation to veterinary care and recovery, it’s a team effort from start to finish.

We don’t have dedicated funding for TNR, but when a property owner is able to contribute toward the cost, or when funding becomes available, we’re always happy to help make these projects happen.

We are incredibly grateful to work with Dogster’s Spay & Neuter Program (DSNIP) , whose support makes these efforts possible and helps ensure community cats receive the care they deserve. 🐈‍⬛🐈

Want to support future TNR projects? You can dedicate a donation toward TNR here:

TNR truly makes a difference — for the cats and for the community. 💕

💛 Java Update 💛

We wanted to send a huge Thank you to everyone who has donated toward Java’s medical care. Your support means everything to us and her💗

We’re still working to find the right treatment for her GI issues, but the good news is — she’s growing, gaining weight, and full of energy!

She continues to be the sweet little love bug, and we’re so grateful to have a community that continues to stand behind her.

Thank you for helping our little Java. 🐾💛

🐾✨ Our Sanctuary Queens ✨🐾

Owl (18), Buddha (17), Lahaina (16), MaiMai (15), BooBoo (14), Charlotte (14), Alice (13), Mitzi (13), Bridget (13), JLo (13), and Plumeria (11).

These ladies are the heart of Cat Care Durango.

Since moving into our new facility, our senior girls have truly blossomed. With cozy rooms, sunny windows, and peaceful spaces away from the younger crowd, we’ve witnessed incredible transformations — especially Owl, who now lounges in laps, plays, and confidently struts around like she owns the place. (Because she does.) ☀️

Each of these queens has her own personality, her own story, and her own pace. Some will live out their golden years right here with us. Others may still be waiting for the right person to see just how special a senior cat can be.

And thanks to a generous supporter, BooBoo’s adoption fee has been lovingly covered — she’s ready whenever her perfect match walks through the door. 💚

Senior cats love deeply, settle in beautifully, and bring a calm, steady kind of companionship that is truly unmatched.

While space limits how many seniors we can take in, what we can promise is this: every single one is cherished beyond measure.

Senior cats are something special. And these ladies? They’re royalty. 👑🐱

🎨💚 A Very Special Thank You 💚🎨

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Clara Portier for volunteering her time and incredible talent to create Cat Care Durango’s very first mural!

Clara has been part of our family for a while. She volunteered with us in our old space, adopted the spunky tuxedo cat Bert, while working at Durango Animal Hospital, and studying cell and molecular biology up at the Fort (she graduates in May! 🎓✨).

Oh — and did we mention she created this beautiful mural while pregnant?! Absolute rockstar.

So many people stop and admire her work as soon as they walk through our doors. It has already become such a special part of our new space, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Clara, thank you for sharing your heart, your talent, and your time with us. The kitties — and all of us — are so lucky to have you. 🐾💕

We are beyond grateful for everyone who came out to celebrate our Grand Re-Opening with us! The turnout was incredible, we met new faces and caught up with our long time supporters, adopters and friends. Our new facility felt the love and our hearts are full. 💚🐾

To the volunteers who jumped in to help (you know who you are 🤍), to Damn The Moon for filling our space with amazing live music, all the thoughtful gifts we received from you, and to the talented bakers who spoiled us with cupcakes, cookies, chocolates, and chocolate-dipped strawberries — everything was absolutely perfect.

The generosity, compassion, and community support we felt that day reminded us why we do this. Cat Care Durango is more than just a space for cats — it’s a village of people who believe they deserve love, safety, and second chances.

The kitties truly couldn’t do this without you. Thank you for standing beside us and making this new chapter so special. ✨💕
With Love,
Padgie, Shiann, Bailey, Brigid, Sue, Linda, Leah, Arden, Siri, Doug and the Cats!
