It's finally here! I am opening Monday June 1st. I am taking appointments at this time. I have hammered out my COVID policies and procedures. I have received most all of the supplies I need and will go hunting for more this week.

Here is a brief summary of the policies I am implementing, I will be emailing my scheduled clients with detailed instructions:

pre-session screening: If you are presenting with a fever of over 100 deg F, have recently had any respiratory symptoms, sore throat or shortness of breath. If you have been in contact with anyone in the last 14 days who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 or has coronavirus symptoms. These are reasons not to get a massage.

If you are over the age of 65 and/or have an underlying health condition please be aware that you are in a higher risk category and take this into consideration when deciding whether or not to schedule.

session precautions (abridged version):
* client and practitioner will wear masks for the session, facedown for the client with a mask may not be practical.
*all permeable surfaces that the client may come in contact with (eve through a sheet) such as table fleece covering, pillows, client chair will have a plastic covering for disinfecting purposes.
*I will have a window cracked and a HEPA air filter going.
*I will have ample hand sanitizer available for during session needs as well as a touch free waste bin.
*I will schedule 1hr 45 min for a 1hr session to allow time for proper disinfection between clients.
*I will implement certain protocols to minimize the amount of time clients spend in my office other than time on table (virtual waiting room, emailed paperwork, virtual and contactless payment (Venmo, PayPal), scheduling via text after the session.

In addition I will only be scheduling 3 people a day for now.

Hi again everyone!
I'm working on reopening. I don't have a definite date yet, but am shooting for the third week in May after Memorial day weekend. I'm not scheduling anyone just yet, but am keeping lists of interested peeps.

I'm currently waiting on a bunch of supplies (plastic covers, disinfecting products, thermometers, masks, gloves, etc) that a lot of other businesses are vying for.

Stay tuned, be well!

Hi wonderful people, I hope this finds you as well as possible! An update on these new "safer at home" guidelines and what that means for massage in Durango. As of now, massage therapists in Colorado are being told by the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) and Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP, liability insurance) NOT to go back to work on April 27th and to await further instruction.

Does that mean May 1st? Even if that means May 1st, I don't think I would be comfortable opening any earlier than May 15th if the easing of regulations goes well. To open I need permission from DORA, enough PPE and cleaning supplies, and numbers showing that COVID is not overtaxing our community and hospitals. When I do open, I won't be able to see clients over 65, those with serious underlying health conditions (asthma, chronic lung disease, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, severe obesity, liver disease, and immune compromised).

I also have to take into consideration that I am in a moderate risk category because I take immunosuppressive medication (Enbrel). Even though I have not received any stimulus or unemployment funds, and have zero income I will not put myself and others at risk over my finances. I will keep you all updated, be well!

Non COVID related post. Well, it's all related to that now....
I am starting a health coach training program that is accredited by the national board of health and wellness coaches. This has been a budding interest of mine and now being unable to practice my profession of over 12 years, this is the time to take the leap! What is health coaching? It is evidence and neuroscience (my undergrad degree!) based behavior change lead by a health coach. It can be nearly any health and wellness goal relating to physical, nutritional, emotional, mental , and even financial health. Examples could be I want to eat more vegetables and less processed food, I want to have a consistent mindfulness practice, I want to have a more positive outlook on life, I want to be more satisfied in my career. Just about anything under the sun, I can help you get there. I will be doing practice sessions by end of May, so if you are interested in having a free practice session with me, get in touch! I am excited to turn adversity into an opportunity. Thanks for your support, I miss all of my clients dearly!

Due to rising transmission rates of covid 19 in Colorado, I am suspending work until things become safer. There is no way of controlling airborne transmission working so closely with people. Also people can be asymptomatic when carrying the virus, along with very limited tests available, there really isn't a reliable way of knowing who is infected. I am trying to do my part to slow transmission in our community by staying home. Thank you for your understanding, stay health and well. And make sure to get outside and have fun by yourself or with your family! Remember, we're all in this thing together. Much love to you all!

Hi everyone! I will be out of the office 3/5-3/16 on a 40th Birthday road trip to southern Canada (yes, skiing!). I appreciate this opportunity to do something I've wanted to do for a long time. If you are in need of a massage while I'm gone, there are lots of great massage therapists I can refer you to. Emily AuCoin, Kristi Zink, and Mark Little are the main therapists I'm referring to. I'm fairly booked the week I come back (school spring break), but please don't hesitate to get in touch to schedule, my phone works in Canada. Be well everyone!💙💙💙🍁🍁🍁

I just want to give myself a nerdy pat on the back for incorporating the RockTape "trinity" : cupping, taping, and scraping in a 1 hr massage session with no extra charge! The most rewarding part was when my client said she could bend over to put on her boots for the first time in weeks. Winning!

Here's another "did you know?" post. Did you know that Have special body cushions specifically to give more comfortable pregnancy massages? With these cushions I can usually have my pregnant ladies lay face down for a massage session through their third trimester due to the cutouts for big baby bellies. I had a client today who I've worked with through two pregnancies say she was so excited to come in not only for the massage but also to be able to lay on her stomach. That cracked me up!
