This is an update from my daughter McKenzie Mraz about my granddaughter Lauchlan. They are having a rough day.

DI sucks.

We have been expecting and preparing for this day for a long time and it has finally arrived. After her final dose of doxorubicin last week L’s hair gradually started thinning and just last night started coming out in very large clumps. Leaving the decision ultimately up to her, Lauchlan decided to shave her head today. We are not taking this situation as a negative thing, but looking at it as a way to start fresh and - as L put it- “get rid of my yucky chemo hair.” Lauchlan also reminded me of my own words last night when she saw my face become a little sad saying, “Mama it will be ok. It’s just hair and I know it will come back. I will still be beautiful and you can mooch my bald head.” To support L papa, daddy AND Auntie Ahmi all had their heads shaved too!! We are so blessed to have such an amazing support system!

Last week L’s ANC was also at an all time low at only 260 so along with the pulse of steroids she received she has certainly not been her usual perky & smiley self. Dex has always made her normally sunny personality very glum and almost despondent. Where I have a great appreciation for steroids and what they do I absolutely HATE the side effects they cause. She will thankfully get another week long break from them after today.

Monday is going to be a HEAVY day for Lauchlan; After today’s labs showing her ANC at 800, L will start out with her 10th LP and will be receiving FIVE different chemotherapies in various ways including IV, IT, oral AND subcutaneous.

Lauchlan is one hell of a tough cookie and I know she will bust through the rest of DI like the little champ that she is, but please keep sending all the love and good vibes and please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as well. As she always says, “I’m kicking leukemia’s butt!” 🧡💪🏼🎗

There are so many of our patients in the office that have shown their love and support for our family as Lauchlan travels through this journey she is on. She is strong and hanging in there tough. I thought I would share this with you and ask for your prayers. Thank you.

Sweet L is the of the week!! 🎗

This week Lauchlan starts DI which is said to be one of the toughest rounds of treatment that she will have to endure. She will start out with her 9th lumbar puncture and chemo infusions both IV and IT this upcoming Thursday. Next Monday she gets another big infusion of PEG-asparaginase; Many who receive this infusion after their first time end up with severe allergic reactions and other serious complications so I would by lying if I said I wasn’t incredibly nervous. Please keep L in your thoughts and prayers and please send all good vibes her way!! She is the toughest person I know by far and I know she will continue to fight and kick Leukemia’s butt!! 🧡

Good News! As of Monday, April 27, 2020 we will reopen. Due to COVID-19 we still need to practice our social distancing.

Because Chiropractic is a hands on profession we all need to continue using washing our hands and using hand sanitizer. Staff and doctors will be wearing masks and patients should too. All chiropractic tables as well as the chairs will be sanitized before the patient enters the adjusting rooms.

We ask that people not congregate around the front desk while checking in or out. If someone is already there, let’s give them space until they are finished.

To help with social distancing, patients will be seen by appointment only for right now. If you attempt to do a “walk-in” you may need to wait outside until we have a appointment time open for you or set up a time to come back.

The world is a different place due to COVID-19. Let’s all practice a little extra patience and courtesy so that we can all get through this trying time together in a peaceful manner.
