Yo, it’s Roo here 🐾…

Dad thought I was nuts for wanting to go outside in 95° heat. But I smelled something he didn’t… 🐻👃

So I growled, he followed, and BOOM — giant bear staring at us from the creek.

Moral of the story: always trust the dog. We know stuff. 😎🐾”

It’s hard to believe, but four years ago this week I said goodbye to my best friend…

One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.

Brutus wasn’t just a dog — he was family.

My anchor through some of the most challenging years of my life.

The constant in the storm. The center of the joy during all the good times...he truly was the exclamation point on all of the fun things in life!

Not a day goes by that I don’t miss you.

Big Boy… I know you (and Chase) are up there somewhere, watching over me and Roo, tagging along on every adventure. I can feel you with me — especially now — as I look to finish what we started with Mighty Mike’s, the dream that began when you were still here by my side and part of the inspiration.

I look back at all the photos and can vividly remember every one of our adventures. I’d always say “let’s go do a product photoshoot” — but really it was just an excuse to disappear into the mountains with you midweek and have some adventures.

We covered a lot of ground in our 15 years together — from the misty woods of Mt. Hood, Oregon… to the sunny beaches of Southern California… and finally the wild, rugged beauty of the Colorado Rockies, where my love for the mountains truly came alive.

It was hard watching you slow down toward the end.

But damn, you lived the ultimate life a dog could ever have.
And you’ll always be a legend to me.

This one is for you, buddy.

Love you forever, Bru Bru. 🖤🐾

I finally figured out what I want to be when I grow up. 😄🎿

Okay, in all seriousness—this one’s been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember, and I can finally say it’s officially checked off! It feels like a dream I never really let go of finally found its way back to me… and this winter, I went for it.

Skiing was my first true athletic love. I can still remember those early days—being a kid bundled up in snow gear, clicking into skis that felt way too big, and heading to the local slopes with butterflies in my stomach and pure joy in my heart. Some of my most vivid childhood memories are tied to the snow, the slopes, and the freedom that came with flying down a hill.

Even back then, I had this wild dream: to move to Colorado and become a ski instructor. It sounded like the ultimate life—living and working in the mountains, sharing my love of skiing with others, and being part of a community that lives for the snow. But, like a lot of dreams, life took me in a different direction, priorities shifted, and the idea got tucked away in the background.

That is… until this winter.

I finally gave myself permission to just "send it"—to go for something simply because I loved it and wanted to take a chance. Coaching has always been a big passion—I love helping people grow, improve, and find confidence in themselves—and pairing that with skiing just felt right, and it was the perfect time.

So, I became a ski instructor. 😁

And I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. What started as a “wouldn’t it be cool if…” turned into an experience that exceeded every expectation. I had an absolute blast teaching everyone from wide‑eyed little kids taking their first wobbly runs to adults pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. The people, the mountain, the moments—it all reminded me how powerful it is to connect with the things that light you up and give you a strong sense of purpose.

Ski season wrapped up this weekend, and I’m already looking forward to next year—excited, grateful, and curious to see where the mountain takes me this time! ⛷️❄️💙

Them: “What a great picture of your dog, how did you get him to sit still like that”
Roo: …..

In honor of Roo was good to sit still long enough to get this picture of him with the Colorado Aspens doing their thing!

Roo is my 3rd black lab rescue, and there is a reason why I gravitate towards black dog rescues. There is stereotype with black dogs, especially the bigger ones, and are less likely to be adopted for no other reason than their coloring. The older they are the longer they end up sitting in the shelter. Brutus was my first, he spent 6 months waiting to get adopted when I lived in Oregon. And Roo was the same, he spent 5 months in the shelter.

So today in honor of the big beautiful black pups…. Roo, Chase and Brutus! Share your own pics in the comments :)
