“Rib Flare” is but one example of a message that may have some merit worth working on in some populations that gets extrapolated to being relatively important for all populations.

Scapular dyskinesia, text neck, upper/lower cross syndrome, overpronation of the feet, kyphosis, lordosis, pelvic tilt, hip internal rotation, and the list goes on…

Can we just help reduce barriers to engaging in real exercise? Not drills and neuroticism of HOW you move, but moving more, more often, sometimes with structure and sometimes just for fun, progression, exploration, and change the palliative model.
-
I get it. People hurt sometimes. They hurt alot. It’s demoralizing and robs them of the life they want to live. I work with these people all day, every day. Wading through their s**t storms. It’s hard. It sucks.
-
But I don’t need them to focus on things like correcting posture, attempting to identify exactly why they are experiencing pain (we can’t know), or being neurotic about how they move to make real, lasting progress, even if pain coms and goes as it always does… because we’re human.

I’m over the “rib flare” posts that keep popping up. Can we get over it already!?!
-
Train to get stronger and more fit… not to become paranoid about something as trivial as “rib flare”.

Ohh foam rolling…
-
The argument isn’t about whether or not it “does” something to tissue… it more than likely doesn’t.
-
It’s about what folks think it does, developing dependency, and opportunity cost in legitimate time or behaviors born conscious and unconscious.
-
If you want to, sure, have at it.
-
Remember, there’s a difference between feeling good and creating lasting adaptations.

Check most recent post. Great stuff.

This should help add to the conversation. I’m also very surprised that this is even a controversial topic. Wild.
