As we continue celebrating National Midwifery Week, please welcome our newest addition to the Wives - Lauren Harrington!

I’m an ECU graduate for midwifery nursing education. I’m passionate about childbirth and lactation education and shared decision making. My favorite moments attending births are supporting the formation of a new definition of family.

My husband and I are Durham natives and have 3 wild and wonderful children. I love cooking fun new recipes, reading, cross-stitching, board games, indie music, and planning to exercise 😄

I’m excited to serve birthing folks at Durham Women’s Clinic!

It’s National Midwifery Week!!! Everyone give a warm welcome to one of (you know we are extra around here) our new midwives - Amber!

I am Amber Memory. I am from a small town called Whiteville in NC. I graduated with my ADN from Southeastern Community College, my BSN from UNCP, then pursued my career in Midwifery graduating from East Carolina University with my MSN. I was inspired to be a nurse by my Mom. I admired the love and passion she had for nursing. A few other moments were pivotal in me pursuing women’s health, witnessing my older sister birth my nephew, and my L&D rotation in nursing school. After becoming a labor nurse there was no doubt that I wanted to be a part of educating and empowering woman throughout their life. To be involved in the birth of new life is such an honor and privilege.

Join us on this important day to celebrate the invaluable contributions of midwives worldwide! 🌍

On the International Day of the Midwife, we recognise not only our critical role in maternal and newborn health but also our impact on the sustainability of health systems worldwide.

Through our advocacy for sustainable birth practices and the provision of essential care, especially in times of crisis, we are a vital climate solution. By empowering mothers and families to make environmentally friendly choices during pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond, we contribute to a healthier future for both communities and the planet.

But to keep up the good work, we need support. That means investment, resources, and a seat at the decision-making table.

So, as we celebrate , let's cheer for our achievements, but also advocate for the changes needed to build a sustainable future.
