If you consider making one donation this year, think of us.

Many loved ones that don’t have cancer will be spending the holiday in a treatment facility. Our goal is to be there for them to make sure they can celebrate the holiday the way it should be celebrated.

We’ve partnered with UNC Medical Center and Levine Children’s Hospital to make sure their blood disease and disorder patients don’t spend the holiday alone.

Every donation will go towards holiday support for a child, a loved one, and their families. Your contribution will help us help them!

We thank you.

I found out my diagnosis through an online MyChart update. My hematologist didn't explain anything to me so naturally I Googled just about everything I could and went down a few rabbit holes.

Big mistake.

It didn't help when a few days later at an appointment with her she recommended I undergo a bone marrow transplant and asked if I had any siblings to test as possible donors.

I knew she and I weren't a good fit, but unfortunately it took me almost two years to find a specialist that understood my condition and what was best for me, not necessarily best for it.

Receiving devastating medical news can be incredibly difficult and damaging to a person's mental outlook and attitude, and spending time on the internet Googling causes, symptoms, or outlooks probably doesn't help.

Here at the BBP we want to help in any way we can. We want to help patients find doctors or specialists that understand their condition. We want to help financially because we know treatment isn't cheap. Most importantly we want to keep anyone from going down the online rabbit hole.

Whether it's learning to live with a new medical diagnosis or starting a nonprofit, the start can always be daunting and seem impossible.

When I received my PNH diagnosis I didn't know what to do or what my next steps were going to be, and I found it very difficult to think about the present while worrying about the future.

In these difficult times I'm reminded of The Boy, the Mole, the Fox, and the Horse. It's often very hard to see our way through, but if we can see our next step, we must just take that.

We're getting close to becoming official, but we still need a bit more help!

Since our creation two weeks ago, we've already received inquiry from families that are struggling financially to pay for their medical costs. Help us help them!

All donations will go towards families in need, but if donating isn't your thing, a like, share, or pass along is greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, blood disorders are much more common than we realize. Even though our focus are ones you've probably never heard of, we don't want to forget the ones we have.

We want to be sure to thank , bessebs, and their families, as well as Ms Dolly Brown and Ms Patti Burke as our earliest supporters.

We're amazed by the support we've received from friends and family that support our cause and what we're setting out to do.

We're The Better Blood Project. A charitable, nonprofit organization to help individuals and their families diagnosed with a rare blood disease/disorder.

Our goal is to shorten the gaps between clinicians, patients, treatment and care options, and even clinical trial organizations.

We're also here to assist those diagnosed and their families with the financial burden that rare disorders and their necessary treatments often require.
