Let’s talk why I chose an up hill battle.
Aside from the fact that I had mental health issues stemming from men in my family, and substance use, and the lack of help the received, or even had access too- or felt like they could access…. And aside from the fact that based on the survey I put out a lot of men feel stigma around seeking help, or they were raised in a way that they had to be strong. (Women too).
There’s a bigger issue going on.
There are women out there that are generalizing men so horribly that I don’t want to be a part of it.
Let me first explain that I have absolutely had my fair share of bad experiences with men. Do I look over my shoulder when I go on walks? Yup. I actually struggle with safety issues. But NOT all men are bad, just like not all women are, and not all cultures, races, diverse populations, you get the hint.
The fact that I go on social media platforms and see a video get 1 million likes and it’s a woman saying she gets the ‘ick’ from a man riding a bike, gives me, the ‘ick’.
Woman put so much ‘old school pressure’ on men, when we’re trying to change the gender values saying we want to be more independent. So let’s do it. Let’s be safe for men to be vulnerable, and not feel dumb for doing it, and not shame them. (If you feel attacked this applies to you, don’t get mad just change)
Again, up hill battle.
