Let’s talk why I chose an up hill battle.

Aside from the fact that I had mental health issues stemming from men in my family, and substance use, and the lack of help the received, or even had access too- or felt like they could access…. And aside from the fact that based on the survey I put out a lot of men feel stigma around seeking help, or they were raised in a way that they had to be strong. (Women too).

There’s a bigger issue going on.
There are women out there that are generalizing men so horribly that I don’t want to be a part of it.
Let me first explain that I have absolutely had my fair share of bad experiences with men. Do I look over my shoulder when I go on walks? Yup. I actually struggle with safety issues. But NOT all men are bad, just like not all women are, and not all cultures, races, diverse populations, you get the hint.
The fact that I go on social media platforms and see a video get 1 million likes and it’s a woman saying she gets the ‘ick’ from a man riding a bike, gives me, the ‘ick’.

Woman put so much ‘old school pressure’ on men, when we’re trying to change the gender values saying we want to be more independent. So let’s do it. Let’s be safe for men to be vulnerable, and not feel dumb for doing it, and not shame them. (If you feel attacked this applies to you, don’t get mad just change)

Again, up hill battle.

June is Mens Mental Health Awareness Month.

Did you know:

About 6 out of every 10 men experience at least one trauma in their lives. PTSD can develop weeks, months, or even years after an experienced trauma, and can cause a person to relive the traumatic event, experience nightmares or flashbacks, and a number of other troubling symptoms that interfere with their everyday life.

49% of men feel more depressed than they admit to the people in their life. A survey of more than 1,000 men commissioned by the Today Show revealed the truth that many assume- men are much less likely to voice struggles with mental illness, and even thoughts of su***de.

In 2020, men died by su***de 3.88x more than women. Though men experience a higher rate of su***de, they are less likely to seek help and more prone to suffering in silence. Depression, when left untreated, can in some cases reach a crisis point of suicidal contemplation

As a life coach I’ve completely turned my focus on to the male community. Probably the toughest community as we all know most men typically don’t reach out for help, am I right.

In the recent survey I did, the ones who answered why y’all don’t get help it was because of stigma, or no time; to which I reply please make the time and forget the stigma because you matter.

If you know anyone who needs a safe space to talk, please refer. & and if you’re struggling yourself please reach out as I know a plethora of people I can refer you too.
