🏀 Last week, NEP Rec Team member Cam brought a fleet of court chairs to the Hamel Rec Center to teach UNH Kinesiology grad students in KIN 895 the ins and outs of wheelchair basketball!

Students learned about the sport’s rules, strategy, and equipment — then hit the court to experience the game firsthand.

Northeast Passage, as program of the UNH College of Health and Human Services, regularly collaborates with the Kinesiology and Recreation Management & Policy departments as part of their undergraduate and graduate curricula and provides hands-on adaptive sports and recreational therapy learning experiences to students in multiple disciplines across campus. 💪♿💙

🏆 Big weekend for the NEP Wildcats! 🏆

The Northeast Passage Wildcats Wheelchair Rugby Team dominated at the Steel City Slam Tournament in Slippery Rock, PA — finishing undefeated with a 5–0 record and taking first place! 💪🔥

On top of that, a huge congratulations to Head Coach Sarah Leonard, who received the Spirit of Achievement Award from the United States Wheelchair Rugby Association for her incredible leadership with the Wildcats, her work with the USWRA National Low Pointer Team, and her dedication as an advocate and ambassador for the sport. 🙌

Wildcats on 🔥 this weekend!
⚽️ The NEP Wildcats Power Soccer Team had a fantastic weekend in Syracuse — getting to reconnect, compete, and play the sport they love! The Wildcats battled hard through six games, finishing with an impressive 4 wins, 1 loss, and 1 tie — their most successful trip to Syracuse yet!

They opened with a close 2–1 loss to host team CNY, then bounced back strong with a 4–1 win over Tidewater Piranhas. They followed that with a 5–0 shutout against CIVA (Canada) and a 2–2 tie vs. NEFC to end Saturday. Sunday saw the Wildcats come out firing with a 3–1 win over CIVA and another 3–1 victory over NEFC to close out the weekend on a high note.

Incredible performances across the board from the whole squad — what a way to kick off the season! 💛💙

🏒 Meanwhile, NEP Wildcats NESHL Metro Sled Hockey Team absolutely dominated in Pittston, PA — sweeping their league games with four straight shutouts against the NY Rangers, Space Coast, Ga***rd Wolfpack, and the Hammerheads! That’s how you make a statement. 💪

Our TREK School-Based Recreational Therapy group spent a perfect fall visit at Emery Farm in Durham! 🎃☀️

Students decorated pumpkins, explored the farm, and enjoyed everything this beautiful spot has to offer on a warm autumn afternoon. Big smiles, creative pumpkins, and plenty of fall fun all around! 🍂🧡

🙌 Big things happened at the ATRA Conference in San Antonio over the weekend! 🌟

NEP’s clinical program directors, Tye Thompson and Molly Robinson, presented on how Northeast Passage is changing the game in Recreational Therapy by developing a Salesforce-integrated documentation system that’s anything but ordinary.

This powerful tool helps our therapists plan, track, and reflect more efficiently—while clearly showing the real-world impact of RT across all settings.

From improving communication with partners to driving data-based research and consistency in practice, this system is helping shape the future of Recreational Therapy.

Another successful Wheelchair Dance event is in the books! Instructor Caz led participants through an expressive and joyful session focused on movement, rhythm, and connection.

Each class reminds us that dance isn’t about steps—it’s about freedom, creativity, and the joy of movement in your own way.

🍂Join us on Thursday for a nice autumn walk in collaboration with Southeast Land Trust (SELT). During this walk we will highlight some of the recent work that we’ve done on the trails and enjoy the nice fall weather.

Fee: $20 to utilize Northeast Passage all-terrain equipment

We'll explore just over a mile of trails at the Memorial Forest. This hike is available to all abilities and all-terrain chairs are available based on your needs for participation.

It’s go time! The 2025 Northeast Passage Comp Sports Challenge officially kicks off today, Sunday, October 19.

Over the next four weeks, the NEP Power Soccer, Sled Hockey, Wheelchair Lacrosse, and Wheelchair Rugby athletes are working hard off the ice/court to raise vital support for their 2025/26 seasons. Every dollar helps cover team travel, practice and competition space, equipment, and coaching—ensuring our athletes have the resources they need to train, compete, and thrive.
