Somatic Experiencing® (SE TM) is a body-based form of therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine, author of Waking the Tiger and In an Unspoken Voice. It was developed to help people heal from trauma, shock, and chronic stress. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which usually works from the “top down” by starting with thoughts, SE works “bottom up,” beginning with the body to help restore regulation in the nervous system and support mental health.

The state of indecision in a relationship can be emotionally exhausting, and it often leaves people feeling paralyzed. Mira Kirshenbaum’s book, Too Good to Leave, Too Bad to Stay, offers a compassionate framework for navigating this dilemma. Rather than pushing for either reconciliation or separation, she invites people to carefully assess the health of their relationship by asking a series of guiding questions.

Today, September 10 is World Su***de Prevention Day. It's fairly safe to say that the majority of people you come into contact with have been touched by su***de in some capacity.

World Su***de Prevention Day serves as a vital reminder of the importance of open communication between parents and their children. It's crucial for parents to engage in honest conversations with their kids about mental health and to remain vigilant for any indicators that may suggest their child is struggling. By fostering a supportive and understanding environment, parents can help their children feel safe and heard, which can be instrumental in preventing feelings of isolation.

Additionally, educating oneself about the warning signs of su***de is an essential step for everyone. Recognizing these signs early can be lifesaving. Common warning signs include changes in behavior or mood, withdrawal from friends and activities, changes in sleep or eating patterns, and any talk of hopelessness or self-harm.

Connecting young people with mental health resources is another critical component. Whether through school counselors, mental health professionals, or community organizations, ensuring that children have access to the support they need is paramount. By taking these steps, we can all contribute to a world where mental health is prioritized, and the stigma surrounding it is diminished.

Our Story

Founder Statement & Mission: My own personal journey of work/life balance, mind-body connection, and curious and compassionate engagement with the world has fueled me to seek new opportunities to develop and grow. This helps me find a deep sense of meaning and purpose in my own life. I thoroughly enjoy supporting others in their growth experiences and have brought together practitioners who focus on positive change.

My interest in forensic psychology derives from my desire to ensure that people are treated justly and that everyone has the same opportunities. To me, justice emphasizes logic and weighing principles to determine moral rights and responsibilities. It also includes care reasoning which involves empathy and compassion; the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. I want to know that my work and expertise is helping make a positive difference in the world. Not many practitioners feel comfortable working within the legal system; therefore, I have brought together clinicians, and partner with other professionals, who provide people with opportunities for respectful conflict resolution.

I also highly value mentoring and coaching, so providing opportunities for students in training, as well as new mental health professionals, who want to get established before making their own way in the world is an important component of my practice.
