Duke Regional Hospital is proud to celebrate Independence Day. The freedom that it represents for our nation extends to the ways our organization is able to provide fair and equitable access to quality healthcare to patients and communities from all walks of life. It also allows us the freedom to live out our commitment to celebrate the diverse strengths and contributions of our team members across the health system.

As we observe this special holiday with family and friends, let us do so with a sense of unity and pride, and to reflect on how the freedoms we enjoy can inspire us all to greatness in how we care for our patients, their loved ones, and each other. Happy Independence Day – and thank you for all that you do!”

Today, June 6, is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, an observance designed to honor victims and survivors of gun violence and to raise awareness about gun safety. The Wear Orange Day initiative began in 2015 by friends commemorating the life of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton, who was killed by gunfire on a Chicago playground. They chose to wear orange because it is the color hunters wear in the woods to protect themselves and others.

Duke Health is one of many organizations nationwide working to end gun violence. To show our support, Duke Regional Hospital team members will participate in Wear Orange Day today on June 6.

Join Duke Regional in this journey to end gun violence by wearing orange and posting your photos with the hashtag !”
