Dear ANPA Imo/Abia Medical Mission Volunteers, and Partners,

On behalf of ANPA leadership, I extend our deepest gratitude to each of you for your dedication, commitment, and spirit of collaboration throughout the 2026 Medical/Surgical/Dental/Eye Mission and Multiple Training Programs for capacity building in Imo and Abia States, Nigeria, April 10-17.

Thanks to the Executive Governors of each state, His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma of Imo, and His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti of Abia, Honorable Commissioners of Health, Ministries of Health and home based volunteers for partnering with us.

As of today almost all diaspora volunteers have returned back to their base or are in air now since the previously cancelled Lufthansa flight took off. We accomplished a lot in both states.

However, and most importantly, we are also mourning due to the deeply saddening loss of our dear sister and colleague, Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani, during this mission. Our hearts remain heavy, and we continue to keep her family, friends, and colleagues in our thoughts and prayers. Her service, sacrifice, and compassion will never be forgotten.

Since the incident and my last note I have been in touch with the family frequently, and especially thank His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti, for his support of the family during this very difficult time. I thank all of you for your prayers, phone calls and encouragement.

Please let us support the bereaved family and each other.

We wish each of you safe travels and a smooth return home. We will communicate with you appropriately as things evolve.

Please read Hebrews 6:10 which pertains to you and epitomizes Dr. Uzoma Nwaubani: “For God is not unrighteous, so as to forget your work and the labor of love which you showed toward his name, in that you served the saints, and still do serve them.

May God continue to bless and guide us all.

Sincerely,
Dr. Cliff Eke
ANPA President
