One of the greatest rewards for our Team is watching siblings grow up together. From an older sibling showing the other how to 'open wide', to teenagers trading banter in the exam room, seeing that bond evolve year after year is truly special. We’ve officially reached the stage where Arden isn’t just growing taller; she’s getting 'wittier'. She spent her Team day stumping Dr. Santiago with a clever comedy routine. Thank goodness Tina was there to save Dr. S with some jokes for Arden...Thanks for keeping us on our toes, Arden!! You're hillarious, girl!

What an exciting and action packed 2025! We enjoyed having Dr. Forrest immensely while Dr. Marcus was a way on sabbatical in Australia. We jammed on ukes in the hallway with William and Jess every week. We said a bittersweet goodbye as our wonderful Susan retired - and as Dan started a new chapeter. We had a blast in July with the Durham Bulls - brought to us by Smile Together - the nonprofit organization that supports us. We advocated for our cleft and craniofacial community at Durham City Hall with Isabella's powerful speech. And most of all we enjoyed our Wednesdays with you, our families - watching your beautiful, resilient children and families grow and thrive. We are a strong team because of your partnership and the trust you put in us. Can't wait to see what 2026 brings!

The Duke Cleft and Craniofacial Team and our patients have been fortunate to have Dr. Dan Levy among our team members for several wonderful years. Although he will remain in the area and will stay connected, Dr Levy will be transitioning his practice from Duke.
We have enjoyed his energetic and playful spirit, always ready with a musical instrument to bring a smile and laughter to a child’s face! We were fortunate to have him work with our babies, kids, and families for these years, and we extend our best wishes to him and to his family as he pursues exciting new opportunities.
Dr. Levy will always remain connected to our team, and we are profoundly grateful for everything he contributed to his team members and his patients.

All grown up and chatting with your surgeon... What a treat to get to see Frank and his mom for his Team day! Their family makes the trip from out of state to visit us each year. Love to watch him growing up- into such a happy, sweet young man! (and always so stylish!)

It is amazing to see the changes that take place over the first two years of life! It is quite a journey- including hard work - but we see the outcomes! Ra'meir came to his annual visit last week and enjoyed the people, music and the day. We loved watching him walk around and interact with everyone - and it was not that long ago we were having a prenatal visit with his parents - preparing to meet him!

When you are almost two years old, you do your speech evaluation through play! What a great time Kyier had exploring the toys and saying his words. And oh so cute! It is important to check in with speech- early and regularly when your little one has a cleft palate. With early intervention and guidance, we hope to prevent "negative habits" and shape speech early!

We love the holidays- members of our Team gathered at Ponysaurus in Durham for a "Secret Snowflake White Elephant Gift Exchange Party". (the name was part of the fun) It was an excuse to get together and there was much laughing and quite a jolly time!
