Lauren is a long- time Duke team member and this year she is aiming to achieve her Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in scouting. She is dedicating her efforts to the cleft and craniofacial community by putting together a recipe and activity book for kids after tough oral surgeries. If you have had a bone graft, jaw surgery, palate surgery, etc - please fill out her questionnaire and she will compile it all into a cool book/ resource for kids who will have these surgeries!! Go Lauren!

We are lucky beyond words to have spent time with Dr. Chris Forrest. His time with us is coming to a close, and he is heading back to Canada, his home. While here at Duke, he performed expert surgical procedures, taught the residents and students, taking time to really connect with them, and cared for countless patients. But his most memorable and proudest moment was probably leading the wave at the Smile Together Durham Bulls ballgame in July. 🌊 Not only is he a stellar clinician, teacher and surgeon, he is a humble and kind person. And extremely flexible! 😅 We have learned so much from you- and are very sad to see you go. We think you are the best and are forever grateful for all you have given us!

Meet Zoey!! We met your family before you were born and now you are almost a year old! In 2024, at our annual Durham Bulls Ballgame, your expecting mom held up a Smile Together onesie for a photo- and this year you wore it to the ballgame! Look at the cute picture of you already making friends. Your parents are proud advocates for cleft care and want to share your journey to help other families stay informed, motivated, safe, and supported. We are so lucky to have you all as part of our team- family!!

Team Miciela is full of strength, spirit, and support! On Satruday there was a huge turnout for Miciela at Umstead State Park. Latinos Aventureros joined to show their support- and we walked 5 miles to raise awareness and funds for 8p - a rare chromosome disorder. We are honored to know this child prodigy. Jesse demonstrates exceptional skill, advanced technical ability... and he is SO SO CUTE! I could watch this all day. Keep rockin', Jesse. xo
