May is Mental Health Awareness Month!

Stress, anxiety, trauma, shame, depression, body image concerns, relationship conflict, and past experiences can all impact s*xuality. At the same time, experiences involving intimacy, connection, boundaries, identity, pressure, consent, or disconnection can also affect mental health.

This isn’t about “good s*x fixing mental health.”
And it isn’t about blaming mental health for s*xual struggles.

It’s about recognizing that we are whole humans and all of those parts affect each other. If either mental health or s*xuality feels complicated right now, our specialized therapists are ready to help. Reach out today for a free consultation call 💙

If you've experienced s*xual trauma, setting boundaries can feel confusing, overwhelming, or even unsafe at times. We created a step-by-step guide that explores how trauma impacts your ability to recognize and express limits, and offers clear steps to help you create boundaries that support your healing.

It also includes a printable worksheet to make the boundary-setting process feel more personalized and structured.

You deserve to feel safe, supported, and in control of your own boundaries. 🤍

We’re sending gratitude and love to our 2025–2026 interns, Melissa and Sarah, as they finish their clinical internships with us 💛

Through their S*xpert Projects, they created meaningful, community-centered impact that reflects the heart of this work.

Melissa created Healing Through Color, a powerful art-based experience for survivors of s*xual trauma to express, process, and reconnect with themselves.

Sarah brought education and joy together through S*x Trivia, partnering with the Durham LGBT Center and raising funds for the Southern Q***r Survivor Network.

Melissa and Sarah, it has been such a privilege to watch you grow as clinicians. We are so proud of you both and we can’t wait to see what you do next ✨

April is STI Awareness Month 💙

Talking about STIs can feel uncomfortable, but avoiding the conversation often adds to the shame and stigma people carry after a diagnosis. The truth is: STIs are common, treatable, and don’t take away your right to pleasure.

If you’ve ever struggled with how an STI diagnosis has impacted your confidence, relationships, or sense of self, you’re not alone. We wrote this blog post to help break down stigma and remind you that your s*xuality is still yours to define:

Being diagnosed with a s*xually transmitted infection (STI) can be a scary and traumatic experience. Learn how s*x therapy can support you.
