July is Awareness Month. This is a time to acknowledge and explore issues concerning and minoritized communities of color, and to destigmatize and enhance public awareness of mental illness among affected minoritized groups across the US. Deep-rooted and towards such stigmatized minoritized groups is oftentimes a major cause of feelings of rejection, , and harassment. Moreover, status, conditions, education levels, and access to benefits are just a few differences that can impact the experiences of various groups in the US. On February 3rd from 12PM- 5PM, the SER Hispano Project and the Duke University School of Nursing Community Health Improvement Partnership Program (D-CHIPP) will be hosting its 4th annual Access For Immigrants symposium.

Their goal is to provide students, staff, faculty, and community partners with information on the resources and rights immigrants (whether documented or not), refugees, and asylum seekers have in this country and to build our collective capacity to better serve each other.
