so much of the work done at Herbnvyntage Apothecary+Curios is made possible because of the wisdom of those who came before me. Peace to my NCNW Sister, Mary McLoed Bethune for forging a way forward when so many were not able to clearly see the vision.

Sweet Potato Pie was among Mary McLeod Bethune foods, but also was an important fundraising tool in the early days of her Daytona Institute in Florida. She and her students would sell sweet potato pies door to door for school funds, the money going to buying supplies and uniforms for the students. Her early fundraising was indicative of an entrepreneurial and dedicated spirit that was able to grow her school from success to success over the years.
