I will never forget the night I took my first fencing lesson at FIU with the Miami Fencing Club.

I was 13 and still working through the heavy emotions of my parents divorce a few years earlier and adjusting to a new blended family (which is awesome BTW).

I was also in Jr High (aka Middle School) and was made fun of EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I felt lonely, unwanted and invisible.

The only time I felt seen was when I allowed myself to be myself —- but then I’d get made fun of for it.

Except at fencing.

Finally, a place where I felt I fit in!!

My Grandpa fenced and my Dad fenced in high school. He took that first lesson with me. It was magical. I felt like I found something I was meant to do.

Super grateful to have had the opportunity to work with local videographer, to create this short about fencing and share a small portion of my story.

I hope you enjoy it too!

Ya’ll it’s SO MUCH FUN to introduce my friends and fellow board members to !

Our Advocacy Chair, Marina Ivanov, joined me on Sunday for a fencing lesson and oh my goodness did we have a blast.

I had no idea this powerhouse business owner was going to be so fierce. And on her first day, too!

I swear that fencing is the best stress relief — especially for executive women who are running big businesses such as Marina’s (Apex Transit Solutions)

Thank you Coach Brian at for helping Marina feel welcomed. Everyone was impressed and we are psyched she finally got to fulfill her desire to give fencing a try AND that she wants to get her girls in fencing camp this summer!

Alrighty….. who’s next? 🤺🙌🏻

God is so good to answer my prayers for children — and He gave me not one, but TWO miracle babies when science said we had a 10% chance of ever having babies of our own. No intervention. No help. Just the constant prayers of family and friends until Heaven answered!!!! (Thank you!)

Saturday night we had my Mom and Bonus Dad visiting us, so we had a super yummy dinner. The kids put out all the fine china, lit candles, bought pink roses and balloons for their Nana and I. We did gifts, cards etc.

Today, I got my peaceful morning: Did my Bible study, ate a yummy breakfast, went on a long walk and talked to a bunch of friends.

This afternoon I got to go fencing (whooohoooo!!!) and then we went to church as a family tonight. Came home and had another great dinner.

I am so grateful for my boys. They keep me on my toes and on my knees in prayer. They keep me laughing and roll with the perimenopause crazy train like BOSSES.

I don’t need a special day to be celebrated, bc my family showers me with love daily. But I won’t pass up on the extra effort they make on Mothers Day. 🥰💐💕

What an incredible day!

I had the opportunity to attend the (Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce) annual Women’s Conference called, “The Power of Your Next Choice.”

My dear friend was one of the several very powerful keynote speakers who presented.

From 9:00 - 4:30 PM, I had my tank filled — and had the joy of helping to fill up a few other heart tanks around me!

Grateful to have met some truly incredible women and to also have been able to talk about !
My friend and fellow NAWBO sister/board member was also in attendance.

Friends, Charlotte is THE place to be for women business owners —- and we are shaping the future of this city in the best possible way. Strategic networking and attendance at events such as this one of the fastest and best ways to meet people and grow your business outreach.

Thank you to all the hard working folks who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this truly remarkable event happen!

This has become one of the best ways for me to not only kick off a new month, but to give back to others.

I love being surrounded by women who are in the arena, running not only their homes/families, but their businesses….and focused on making a difference in our city (Charlotte) through their lives and their work. These monthly gatherings are intentionally kept small and intimate so that we can actually CONNECT on a deeper level…. Because there is more to life than working!

We usually meet for an hour, but today’s Connects Group went a full 90 minutes. Non-stop value-adding, sharing, encouraging, and cheering for one another’s successes. A couple of key strategic partnerships were also formed. I call that WINNING!

If you are a woman and own a business here in the Queen City, you need to see for yourself why the women who are shaping Charlotte are a part of NAWBO. Curious to learn more? Come sit with me at the next event! In fact, I see a chair with your name on it 😊
