September is PCOS Awareness Month
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is a common hormonal–metabolic condition—not “just cysts”—and it shows up differently for everyone. You’re not alone, and you deserve compassionate, evidence-based care.
What it can look like: irregular or absent periods, acne, facial/body hair, scalp hair thinning, fertility challenges, fatigue, mood changes, and signs of insulin resistance.
Why awareness matters: PCOS is linked with higher risks of metabolic problems (like type 2 diabetes), endometrial overgrowth, and mental-health challenges (anxiety/depression). Early recognition means earlier support.
Care isn’t one-size-fits-all: sleep, nutrition, movement, stress care; meds to regulate cycles/manage androgens; insulin-sensitizers; and—when trying to conceive—clinician-guided ovulation induction. Mental health care counts, too. 💛
