The Protectress by Judith J. Winston

I am the Protectress. I guard the Gateway for the Four-Footeds, the Swimmers, and the Feathereds. I stand at the Gateway and give them safe passage to the World of the Two-Footeds. They are the Wee Ones, the teachers who speak the language of survival and instinct. If the Two-Footeds would but listen and watch, they would learn how to live on Earth without fear.

I watch the Wee Ones through my Crystal. I guide them in their hunting and their sleeping. In their nesting and the nurturing of their Young Ones, I do take notice. I touch them often, though they are unaware of my caress. My breath lifts the wings of the Feathereds high above the hills. I guide the Four-Footeds to their winter sleeping dens and show the Swimmers the pathways of their ancestors.

There are Guides on Earth who are sent to protect these innocent ones. The Wee Ones know the touch of their Guides, their smell, their loving. These Earthly Guides are filled with compassion for my Wee Ones and learn from them how to be courageous, powerful and self-sustaining, for it is the Gift of each to teach each other.

When the Wee Ones reach the end of their days upon the Earth, I welcome them home through the Gateway once again. They tell me stories of their Earthly life and how their Earthly Guides served them. I listen and advise. We honor their gifts and learnings. They rest awhile and then begin another Sacred Journey.
