My massage workspace isn’t typical.

I have two bars attached to my ceiling, a strap attached to the walls, a stool at the end of my table, and lots of other little props that distinguish me as a barefoot massage therapist.

My work has evolved since I first became a massage therapist. 10 years in, my first barefoot massage training totally transformed my career and I’m STILL evolving after 33 years!

I have a Fundamentals class coming up in January and there’s 1 spot available- Grab yours now and see how could transform yours too. 👣

Kaitlyn at the front desk is lurking around the corner taking photos of me in my natural habitat. Tired after 3 back to back clients but using my break to get the bills payed before next client who’s coming in 20 minutes.

The reality of owning your own practice is that 30% of my time is seeing clients and 70% is spent paying bills, scheduling clients, SOAP notes, fixing things around the studio and other miscellaneous chores.

To me, it’s worth it, but make sure you realize that ratio before stepping into the world of business ownership.

Being a barefoot massage therapist doesn’t mean I exclusively use my feet. 👣

I use my feet as a tool, in combination with my hands, to provide the best possible treatment for my clients.

I haven’t taught ROM in years…and wow, I forgot how much I love it.

We spent Monday–Tuesday diving into Range-of-Motion theory and application (then a half-day clinic), and this full 8-student crew from PA, NC, and TN made it a blast.

Good news: ROM is officially back as a once-a-year class at the Durham campus. If you want in next round, keep an eye on the Training page and hop on the email list.

Had such fun with this group—thank you for showing up so strong! 💪

When I explain Ashiatsu to potential clients, I tell them: ‘It’s just massage using a different tool – my feet.”

If you’ve ever dragged yourself through a day of five or six back-to-back deep tissue sessions, you know the physical toll it takes.

Even with solid body mechanics and years of anatomy training, deep work, it can be brutal on the hands, wrists, and shoulders.

With barefoot massage, I use gravity, leverage, and full-body movement. I can easily perform long fascial holds and provide the deep pressure clients crave, without pain or strain.
