🐋 Whale at Dawn

Some mornings bring surprises
you didn’t even know you were waiting for.

While going through boxes from the shop this week, I found something I thought was gone forever —
my very first spiritual card deck, Medicine Cards.

I bought it before moving to North Carolina,
and the Whale was the first card I ever pulled.
Somewhere along the way, the deck disappeared. I searched for years and finally let it go.

But there it was — 28 years later —
tucked away with old jewelry and memories,
waiting patiently to be found.

This morning, I stepped outside
and the sky was the color of deep water —
that in-between moment where night fades
but day hasn’t quite arrived.

The world was just beginning to stir,
and I couldn’t help but think of Whale again —
keeper of ancient songs, memory, and truth.

It feels like a reminder that what’s meant for us always finds its way home…
sometimes after decades,
sometimes after dark —
but always, in perfect timing.

☕️ Morning Reflections

This little red set — the mug, the teapot, and the teacup — has been with me for years.

It was a gift from my first Duke HR team when I moved on to a new position, and it’s followed me through so many chapters since then.

Every time I use it, I think of those early days — the laughter, the teamwork, and the kindness of people who helped me grow.

It’s amazing how the angels weave meaning into even the simplest things — a mug, a memory, a soft light in the kitchen.

Some things stay with us not because they’re perfect, but because they remind us of where we began — and how far we’ve come, guided by love and gentle hands we cannot always see.

🌷 Morning Glow

The world outside is still half-asleep — the sky dark, the air cool and quiet.

Inside, my little tulip lamp glows softly, a Mother’s Day gift from years ago, casting golden light over the angels gathered on John’s grandmother’s table.

There’s such peace in this space this morning — as if the angels are gently asking to be seen, to be remembered, to share their quiet strength.

Their light feels steady, comforting, and full of grace — a reminder that love never really leaves us; it just changes form and shines on.

The world feels quiet this morning.
Lucy got me up early, and as the first light touched the trees, I felt that gentle reminder to slow down and simply be.

The last few days have been full — laughter, good food, and the kind of company that fills your heart. And now, in the hush that follows, there’s a soft invitation to let grace settle in.

The angels whisper that peace isn’t something we chase — it’s what we uncover when we stop rushing, breathe deeply, and notice the light already surrounding us.

Here’s to a calm Saturday morning, to the warmth of home, and to the quiet presence of angels reminding us that peace begins within. 💛

🌙 Quiet Reflections

Tonight unfolded in the gentlest way. I poured a glass of wine, curled up to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie, and let myself just be for a while. Afterwards, I slipped outside to the hot tub, the air cool against my skin as the water began to bubble and steam.

As I soaked, memories floated up — all the places I’ve called home. Norwich, Putnam, East Hartford, West Hartford, Gales Ferry, Flemington, and finally Old Lyme. Each one holds a chapter of who I was becoming, even before I knew it.

And now, Durham, North Carolina — my hopefully final stop. A place that’s brought both roots and reflection, growth and grounding.

I smiled remembering how, as a teenager and young adult, I wanted to be a bubble bath tester for Calgon. (And yes — if you add about a third of a cup of baking soda, the bubbles really do last longer. 🫧)

Somewhere between the warmth and the quiet, my thoughts turned to the world today — how divided it feels at times, and how friendships can shift when values don’t align. It’s hard, but I keep coming back to this: we can hold true to what we believe, and still choose compassion.

Maybe that’s what growing wiser really means — finding peace in the moment, honoring where we’ve been, and letting love guide the rest of the way. 💫

The chill in the air makes the thought of fresh coffee feel like a little blessing. As the pot brews and that familiar scent begins to fill the kitchen, I can almost sense the angels nearby — wrapping the morning in quiet comfort and peace.

Maybe today’s reminder is simply this: slow down, breathe deeply, and let yourself be held by the gentle warmth around you. 💫

☕️ Mug Memories: Sufferin’ Succotash!

Meet Sylvester — one of my longtime Looney Tunes mug companions! His many expressions always make me laugh, especially after a long day when I just need to unwind with a warm cup of tea.

I found this mug back in the early days of my North Carolina chapter, when I started collecting these cheerful faces from the little gift shop near my office. They were small bits of joy that brightened my evenings — and they still do, all these years later.

Sometimes a cup of Tazo Zen tea tastes even better when shared with a cartoon cat who’s clearly had one of those days too. 😅💜

🍵 Mug Memories: Finding Joy in the Little Things

Tonight, as I sip my evening tea, I’m remembering how my Looney Tunes mug collection began.

When I first moved to North Carolina back in 1993, I didn’t know many people yet. My days were busy at work, but my evenings were quiet — just me, my new apartment, and a stack of Blockbuster movies.

At work, there was a little gift shop beside the cafeteria, and I’d stop in just to take a break. That’s where I found my first Looney Tunes mug — Bugs Bunny. Then came Tweety, Daffy, Wile E. Coyote, and the rest of the gang. Each one made me smile and brought a touch of home to this new chapter of my life.

It’s funny how small things — like a coffee mug — can hold the sweetest memories. 💜
