Reflections from the Lounge ✨

This week has been one for the darkness, the shadows.

As I’ve been preparing for this December Solstice on 12.21, a sense of tenderness is present, and maybe you’re feeling it too. Whether that means hiding away or getting caught up in battles that aren’t really ours to fight.

For our inner warrior, this is a moment to take a full inhale, reflect on reality, and find stillness after releasing a deep sigh, to notice the opportunities around us and carefully choose the soil where those equinox seeds will take root and grow strong.

Do you have any rituals that balance the light and dark during this transition? Let me know 👇🏾

Winter is coming my friend!

What are you doing Thursday 12/19? Come over to BCYF Studio for a 90 minute (pre)solstice gathering.

This guided experience offers a sacred pause to acknowledge and honor your inner warrior through mindfulness, clarity, and grace.

Through gentle and restorative yoga, guided meditation, and artful journal prompts, we’ll create space to reflect on the shadows of the warrior while also connecting to the warrior’s greatest gifts: clarity, compassion, and presence.

Slow down, honor the season, and leave with tools to land in your rhythm for mindful action. ✨ Come as you are.

“We’re becoming more isolated as people.”

They say books have a way of finding you when you’re ready for them, and this one sat on my shelf for months. I finally picked it up last week, and I couldn’t put it down.

Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Talents is packed with so much richness about belief systems, faith during hardship, and the power of community. It shows us that survival isn’t just about individual strength, it’s about leaning on others, sharing resources, and building something sustainable together.

What if we created more spaces that embody these values? Equitable, collaborative spaces that heal, inspire, and even make room for play.

Have you read *Parable of the Talents*? Let’s talk about it. What stood out to you the most? 🌱✨

Friends, colleagues, family, people…our Western community still needs our support. Many of them have literally lost everything and our Florida friends are bracing for another surge later this week.

I am donating 50% of proceeds to a local non profit on the ground in Western NC from this week’s Artful Embodiment yoga class.

Drop in with the 🔗in bio and spend 75 mins investing in yourself and supporting our neighbors✨

Here’s a list of places I’m holding space this week ❤️

__
Grandmother Ocean was carried up the gulf, across several states, and to Western NC leaving our communities struggling with flooding, landslides, and no water or power.

As I drove west across the state this past Saturday, seeing the signs stating that I-40 was closed, hit me deep in my bones. This fear rose up, not just my own, but imagining the fear of not being able to reach the people and places that need our help the most.

A bit of relief came when I saw a dear friend on Zoom, even if just for a moment, to hear that they were safe and that neighbors are stepping up to support each other as best they can.

In times like this, the weight can feel heavy. That’s why it’s so important to pause, take a deep breath, and realign our energy, so we can offer support with open hearts.

I hope you find a space that offers softer moments to regroup and recharge, so our efforts can be stronger and more focused.

As summer winds down here in the northern hemisphere, I’m embracing the excitement for autumn 🍂

It’s not just my favorite season because I’m an autumn baby, but I love the transformation of nature, cooler weather, and more pleasurable hikes.

This time of year is about gathering, quieting down, and shifting into a new rhythm.

Are you ready to welcome autumn’s energy of release?

If mercury has me doing anything the last few weeks, it’s reflecting on what I will allow and will no longer tolerate.

Y’all know me, I exit stage left at the sign of unnecessary stress 🤣 ✌🏾

A few weeks ago, I was chatting with a friend and mentioned an article I’d read about how yoga can boost cognitive functioning in older adults.

I had to laugh because, as a “middle-aged” millennial, I guess that makes me a bit of an “older adult” to the Gen Alpha kids!

I used to feel embarrassed and guilty about not remembering childhood moments or experiences from my younger years.

But things shifted when I spoke with my therapist in 2013. She explained that depression and severe stress can impact our memory. Her advice? Try yoga instead of hitting the gym.

Since then, I always come back to yoga as my practice and appreciate the scientific studies that affirm the timeless wisdom of this ancient practice.

How does yoga support your memory and decision making skills? Let me know 👇🏾

Also, did you know that the fig tree symbolizes depth, fertility, and abundance?

The roots = The past

The trunk = The present

The branches = The future

I often talk about depth in Virabhadrasana II. Reminding folks to be here in this present moment with the past informing us to make current decisions that lead us into a future present moment.

Think of a time you’ve said “I want to thank past me for looking out for present me”? These are the moments I love.

Keep Bloomin’ Dreamers 😘

p.s. stay open to outcomes and allow your creativity and intuition to lead you to a new experience ✨
