Meet our Artist of the Quarter Sue Schneider

An Eastern Washington native, Sue spent her teenage years and adulthood in the Los Angeles area, earning a bachelor’s degree in Fine Art from California State University Northridge. After moving to Oregon with her husband, Sue pursued a career in education and earned a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon.

Sue's family later settled in the Seattle area, and she has called Duvall home for over 30 years, raising four sons and watching the community grow. After retiring from a 30+ year teaching career at Cherry Valley in 2019, she discovered a passion for watercolor painting during the pandemic through online tutorials, later experimenting with acrylics as well.

Sue's journey reflects a belief that it’s never too late to learn something new with time, practice, and guidance—and she hopes others enjoy her late-in-life artistic exploration.

We loved showing our support for Empower Youth Network today. They are a wonderful organization that does so much for our community.

Needing Help is Human is a community awareness campaign designed to provide tools and resources for talking about our mental health and unpacking the complex factors that create stigma. When we create a culture of support and openness around mental health, adults and kids alike will gain better access to the things they need to thrive.
