In 2016, DiepCFoundation, https://www.diepcfoundation.org/ was established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization providing education and resources to empower people with information to make an informed decision about options for breast reconstruction after a mastectomy. Those who are affected by breast cancer after being diagnosed or are at high risk of getting breast cancer from a gene mutation, have a lot to consider when thinking about their surgical options. Whether they choose to have reconstruction or not is a very personal decision. However, finding a surgeon who engages in a shared decision-making conversation takes time and research. The Foundation works with a global community of patients and surgeons. We listen, discuss, and learn from each other. Providing the best surgical outcomes for patients can only be achieved by doing this. From planning surgery, healing and recovery, and life beyond breast cancer and reconstruction, we are here to help you through your personal Journey. Founder and Director, Terri Coutee, https://www.diepcfoundation.org/founder/, a two-time breast cancer patient herself who went on to have successful breast reconstruction knows first hand the time and research it takes to walk this Journey. As a life-long educator, she believes education is empowerment. Breast Reconstruction is not for everyone, but knowing all your options is a right. Let us know how we can help you by providing the gift of education and personal support. You do not have to face this alone.
