New Bedford Whaling Museum docent Nancy Gentile shared the stories of bravery, fear, endurance and joy of the more than 400 women who joined their husbands on whaling voyages out of New England and beyond. Village Resident Sandy Macfarlane taught the residents about the intricacies and purposes of seashells from around the world. Sandy has collected seashells from many of her travels. The visitor movement to and from the islands is meticulously regulated to safeguard their natural beauty and biodiversity.
