Howard L. Christiansen Maumee, Ohio – Formerly of Dwight, Illinois

Howard L. Christiansen, 94, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away peacefully at Carle Hospital in Peoria, Illinois, on September 18, 2025.

Howard was born on May 6, 1931, in Dwight, Illinois, to Arthur and Ruth (Reimer) Christiansen. He was a proud graduate of Dwight High School, Class of 1949. Soon after, he answered the call to serve his country, enlisting in the United States Navy. For four years, Howard served with honor as an Interior Communications Electrician aboard the USS Sigourney, an experience that remained one of the greatest sources of pride in his life. He was a loyal Navy veteran whose service shaped his character and values throughout the years.

Following his military service, Howard pursued further education at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He went on to build a long and dedicated career with AT&T, working first in Grant Park, Illinois, and later in Toledo, Ohio, until his retirement.

A lifelong fisherman, Howard embraced the sport as more than a pastime—it reflected his careful attention to detail, respect for fine craftsmanship, and patient spirit. He shared this passion with his family through fishing trips and by crafting custom poles for each of them, lasting treasures of his love and skill.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Clark R. Christiansen; and his sister-in-law, Wilma Christiansen. He is survived by his brother, Jim (Mary Beth) Christiansen; nieces and nephews Kay (Harvey) Rubin, Jan Christiansen, John (Linda) Christiansen, Karen Tapper, Diane (Laura) Padilla, and William (Stephanie) Christiansen; seven great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-niece. Howard was also blessed with loyal neighbors and dear friends, Mike and Hollie Potter, whose kindness and friendship meant so much to him.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Hager Funeral Home in Dwight, Illinois. A graveside service will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Dwight. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dwight or to the Wounded Warrior Project.

John A. Fox, 62, of Dwight, Illinois passed away peacefully at 2:55 p.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home in Dwight, Il.

As per John’s wishes, cremation rites were accorded, Hager Memorial Home of Dwight has been entrusted with the arrangements.

John was born on October 24, 1962, in Morris, Illinois, the son of Robert and Laura (Scott) Fox.

John is survived by his siblings; Mary (Edward) O'Neill, Robert (Rhoda) Fox, Lloyd (Rose) Voyles, Edward (Sally) Voyles, Charles Voyles, Scott (Kathy) Voyles, Donna (late Clifford) Martin, Leona Martin. Many nieces and nephews, and several chickens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Nancy Leggero.

It’s no coincidence that John passed the same year as Ozzy did; they were both absolute legends. John was a simple man. He knew how to do it all; he could fix anything, he could build anything and loved raising his chickens and ducks (whom had their own house… literally).

Most importantly, John showed his love with immense gratitude, showing up for his friends and family, and lending a helping hand in ways most individuals could not. He didn’t need to show his love through grand gestures, as his presence was enough.

John had a wild sense of humor. His jokes were anything but appropriate. To anyone, wherever he may be, I am telling you or warning you, do not pull that man’s finger. Quick short story, he once was told by his father to swat a horsefly off the family’s bull on the farm. Of course, he did swat the horsefly and the bull was anything but satisfied. He and that bull ended up having a stare off. John did admit he was scared of the bull and began sprinting back to the house.

After the reported bull incident, John has never been scared. He never once complained. He lived his life, showed up for those he loved, and he lived life on his own terms. Ironically, he lived his life like he was actually taking that bull by the horns.

To know John was to love him. He was always working on a project, finding a new hobby, rocking out to music, or as Judas Priest once stated, “breaking the law.” John will be so deeply missed. He provided a sense of comfort to all those around him that could never be replaced. I sure hope he is having a blast in Paradise City.

Chuck was born September 7, 1931 in Morris Illinois to George and Lola (Kindlespire) Brady. Chuck graduated from Dwight Township High School mid semester in 1950. He enlisted in the Navy where he served his country for 4 years. He returned to Dwight where he met the love of his life Rogene Carlson, and they were married on October 27, 1956. In 1957 they welcomed their first child, Brad Brady (Janet) followed by Brenda Shaughnessy (Michael), Brent Brady, Brenene Brady, Bridgett Brady, and Brenitta Brady (Robert Schneider).

From an early age Chuck had a love for art and aviation. In 1965 he completed his ground school and began flying as a hobby. He restored a 1950’s Cessna 170 and joined the Cessna 170 club as well as the EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association). The family attended the Oshkosh Airshow every year they could. Most years they would travel to the 170 convention hosted in a different state each year. Always a gentleman with a great sense of humor, he and Rogene would welcome other 170 members into their home on their way to convention and fly together.

Chuck grew with the family operations to include raising cattle, farming and running a grain elevator. In the winters when the machinery was cleaned and repaired for the season he would spend his days in the shop building a World War I replica of a French Neauport 28 (13 years) that in 1993 he flew to Sun ‘n Fun in Florida to receive grand champion. It was subsequently sold to the Rider museum and now resides in the Amsterdam Museum in the Netherlands. Upon retirement he built a World War I replica of a German Fokker DVI and it is now part of the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome museum in New York.

Faith was paramount in Chuck’s life. Rogene embraced the Catholic faith and together they formed the foundation of their children's lives. He was always available to Sacred Heart Catholic church in Campus whether it was helping with construction of a new bell tower or putting on an apron for a St. Patrick’s Day or Thanksgiving dinner being served. When he and Rogene moved to Dwight they attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. During Chuck’s decline, praying the rosary became a daily ritual as he prepared to join his Heavenly Father. When he could no longer pray the rosary his family and friends would gather around him to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and the Rosary for/with him.

Chuck was always civically minded serving as a Boy Scout leader for his boys and also as the Round Grove township supervisor. For 16 years he served on the Livingston county board, the last 4 years as Chairman of the board. He served as part of the honor guard for the VFW, where he saluted many friends goodbye. Chuck will be missed in the hearts of all those he touched.

Chuck is survived by his wife, 4 children, 10 grandchildren, Benjamin (Brittany) Brady, Ryan (Carissa Main) Shaughnessy, Kendel (Guadalupe Ruiz) Brady, Patrick (Amanda) Brady, Erin (Aaron) Miller, Christopher Brady, Ahnamarie Herbst, Kevin Shaughnessy, Jacob Brady, and Ethan Brady as well as 8 great-grandchildren.
