🐾❤️ National Love Your Pet Day was extra special with some furry therapy!

Our Activities Director brought her sweet dog Oakly to visit the Residents, and she absolutely stole the show. Oakly is a rescue with a beautiful story — she was found abandoned behind the hospital with her six puppies. With the help of Paws to Care, she was safely live-trapped and later became the ultimate foster fail.

It was such a full-circle moment to have this gentle girl come back to spread love and smiles with our Residents. 🐶💛 Nothing brightens a day quite like puppy kisses and wagging tails!

A gracious thank you to the wonderful Newbern Methodist Sewing/Craft group 💕

They always bless us with the sweetest donations, and our Residents absolutely loved the cozy neck pillows! These thoughtful ladies truly keep us in their hearts, and we are forever grateful for their kindness.

And a special thank you to Mrs Mary for the precious baby doll — it brought so many smiles! 🧸💗

🎭💜💛💚 Mardi Gras fun was in full swing today! Our Residents enjoyed a festive King Cake and a sweet little celebration filled with laughter, smiles, and time together. The highlight of the day was one lucky Resident finding the baby — bringing lots of cheers from the room! 🎉🎭👏🏼

A heartfelt thank you to Pavilion of Hope for sharing such a sweet message and thoughtful gifts with our Residents 💝 They enjoyed every minute, and it truly brightens their day to be remembered and celebrated on the little holidays like this 🌸 We are so grateful for your kindness! 😊

Pet Therapy Day! 🐶💛
Sweet Hazel came for a visit, and our hearts are still melting! We absolutely love having sweet dogs around here—they are so comforting and bring so much joy to our Residents. Hazel did amazing with everyone and soaked up all the love.

Hazel is also up for adoption! She would do best in a home with no small animals. After seeing how wonderful she was here, we wish we could all adopt her!

If you’re looking for a loving companion, Hazel might just be your girl 🐾💕

💖 Valentine’s Day is this weekend! 💖

As always, our Medical Records Director, Lori, came up with the cutest idea to help support our activities! She made Cupid cutouts so everyone could place their picture inside—and the results were adorable!

Residents and staff had a blast snapping selfies and hanging the Cupids up front for everyone to enjoy. What a fun and sweet way to celebrate Valentine’s Day and spread a little extra love around our building! 💕💘

To our dismay, the ole groundhog did see his little shadow! We were really rooting for some warmer weather, so we’re all hoping he was wrong! Fingers crossed for an early spring anyway! 🌷☀️

Spot light: Meet Our Life Connections Coordinator! 🌟

Oakwood is proud to recognize Allyson Alley, our incredible Life Connections Coordinator! 💚

Allyson is a native of the Dyer County community, with deep family roots that allow her to build meaningful connections both inside Oakwood and throughout the community. She is a graduate of the University of Memphis, where she earned a degree in Psychology.

When she’s not brightening the days of our residents, you can find Allyson enjoying a good cup of coffee ☕ and running her own personal pet rescue alongside her boyfriend, Patrick. Fun fact—she has 11 cats and 10 dogs and a heart big enough for every one of them! 🐾

Allyson’s dedication and compassion do not go unnoticed. Her strong background in customer service truly shines as she creates meaningful, engaging conversations with residents and family members—making everyone feel valued, heard, and respected.

She loves being a Life Connections Coordinator because she gets to build genuine relationships and reconnect residents to life through purposeful and engaging activities.

❄️ We may have been snowed in, but we made the best of it! Our Medical Records Director, Lori, helped the Residents make bird feeders, and it was such a fun way to pass the time. The Residents love watching the birds outside, and we all agreed they deserved a little treat too! 🐦💙

🔥 Happy International Hot & Spicy Food Day! 🔥
To celebrate, we had a fun tasting of roasted chili corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa, and red chili salsa from our local Chipotle! The roasted chili corn was the clear favorite with both our Residents and staff! 🌽🌶️

We love trying new things together — especially when they have a little kick! ❤️🌶️

🚨 National Law Enforcement Day 🚔

Oakwood is so thankful for our law enforcement!
They protect us, support us, and always take time to visit with our residents — and we couldn’t be more grateful. Our community is a great place because of the hard work these men and women put into keeping it safe. Thank you for all you do! 💙🚓👏

We celebrated the best way possible — with bean dip! We even tried hummus today, and it was a hit. There’s never a bad time to try something new! 🌟
