The Dubuque County Public Health Department is sharing the press release below from the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) regarding a confirmed case of measles in Eastern Iowa. One of the potential exposure locations identified is in Dubuque County:

Casey’s, 2699 Rockdale Rd., Dubuque, IA
Date/Time: Sunday, July 6th, 2025, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm

We are working closely with our partners at the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA), the City of Dubuque Health Services, and the Dubuque County Emergency Management Agency to ensure timely communication, public awareness, and coordinated response efforts.

We encourage all residents, particularly those who may have been at the identified location during the exposure timeframe and are unvaccinated or unsure of their immune status, to complete the Iowa HHS exposure questionnaire linked in the release.

Please help us share this information widely to protect the health of our community. For more information, or to speak with a public health official, please contact The Dubuque County Public Health Department at 563-557-7396 or the Dubuque VNA at 563-556-6200.

CADE routinely monitors over 45 diseases as well as unusual occurrences of disease (outbreaks).

Your team at Bi-County Ambulance wants to make sure you and your family stay safe! Whether you’re playing ball, mowing the lawn, or just enjoying some sunshine, heat-related emergencies can happen faster than you think.

🚨 Know the signs — and when to call for help:
🥵 Heat Exhaustion:
• Heavy sweating
• Weakness or dizziness
• Nausea or vomiting
• Cool, pale, clammy skin

🚑 Heat Stroke (This is a medical emergency—call 911):
• High body temp (103°F or higher)
• Hot, red, dry or damp skin
• Confusion
• Fainting or unconsciousness

✅ Tips to stay cool:
• Hydrate often
• Take breaks in the shade or A/C
• Wear light clothing
• Never leave kids or pets in the car

Remember, prevention is the best medicine. Stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy your weekend!
