🌟 Exploring the Fascinating World of Fascia 🌟

Did you know that there's more to our bodies than meets the eye? Enter the world of FASCIA! ✨

Fascia, the often-overlooked connective tissue, is the unsung hero of our body's architecture. It's like the body's "glue" that holds everything together, from head to toe. 💪🧘‍♀️

🔍 What is Fascia?
Fascia is a web of collagen and elastin fibers that encase and weave through muscles, organs, and even individual muscle fibers. It's responsible for maintaining our shape and allowing our body to move freely and efficiently.

🌟 Fascinating Facts:
1️⃣ Fascia plays a vital role in maintaining our posture, balance, and flexibility.
2️⃣ It's sensitive to emotional and physical stress, making it a key player in understanding mind-body connections.
3️⃣ Fascia can become stiff or restricted, causing pain and discomfort.
4️⃣ Practices like yoga, stretching, and myofascial release help keep fascia healthy.

🧘‍♂️ Take Care of Your Fascia!
Let's show some love to our fascia! Incorporate mindful movement and bodywork into your routine to keep it supple and happy. Your body will thank you for it! 🙏💕

🌟Prenatal or Pregnancy Massage🌟

Prenatal massage is therapeutic body work that focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be as her body goes through the dramatic changes of pregnancy. It enhances the function of muscles & joints, improves circulation & general body tone, and relieves mental & physical fatigue.

What makes Prenatal Massage different?

👉A big difference is how you are positioned on the table. As baby and belly grow, laying on your stomach is no longer an option. This is when I introduce side-lying. While on your side, you will have a pillow under her head, between your knees, and one supporting your arm.
👉A wedge is also used while you are face up to reduce strain in the abdomen, low back, and hip flexors. This is usually used once you are 5+ months along.
👉Deeper pressure is avoided in the legs due to higher susceptibility of blood clots while pregnant.
👉Low heat is okay, but higher heat is generally avoided since we don't want to do anything that will increase your core body temperature beyond 102°.

Massage therapy during pregnancy is a wonderful complementary choice for prenatal care. It's a healthy way to reduce stress and promote overall wellness!

Deep Tissue vs. Deep Pressure

Sometimes there is confusion about Deep Tissue vs. Deep Pressure massage. Many times individuals will assume they need maximum amount of pressure to alleviate pain or tension. It can also be assumed that Deep Tissue will be very painful. These aren't necessarily the case. Let's go over the two individually.

Deep Pressure is how it sounds: any kind of massage done with a firmer or deeper pressure. You could get a relaxation massage and request firm pressure throughout the session or ask for deeper pressure in just one area.

Deep Tissue, however, is normally only used on specific areas. A massage therapist will start working on the area slowly and may start with a lighter pressure. The goal is to get through the tissue layer by layer, giving increased attention to 'knots' or areas of tension. As the superficial layers begin to relax, your therapist can go deeper and focus on the underlying problem that is causing you pain.

Does that mean Deep Tissue massage is painful? Truthfully, it shouldn't be. There could be some discomfort because your therapist is working on an area that is already sore and tender, but this discomfort should never go over a 6 or 6.5 on a pain scale of 1-10. Many clients will describe it as a "hurts so good" feeling. We can feel the areas you need work on, but we do not know how tender that area is. If the pain is getting to be a 7 or higher, that could lead to prolonged soreness after your session or even bruising.

No matter what massage you choose, make sure you talk with your massage therapist about the goals you have for that session to make sure we can work towards the results you desire!
