Your first therapy appointment doesn’t have to feel overwhelming 💛

We’re here to help make getting started as easy and comfortable as possible.

Here are a few simple ways to prepare:
📞 Check your insurance: Know your coverage, copay, and any deductibles ahead of time so there are no surprises.
📝 Write down questions: Think about what you’d like to ask—treatment approach, goals, or what to expect in sessions.
📄 Complete your paperwork: Filling out forms ahead of time helps your first appointment go smoothly and allows your therapist to focus on you.
📍 Plan ahead: Know where your appointment is located—or have your virtual visit link ready to go.
🛋️ Set your space (for virtual visits): Choose a quiet, comfortable place where you can feel relaxed and present.

Starting therapy is a meaningful step—and you don’t need to have everything figured out before you begin.

Today is Stress Awareness Day 💙

Stress is a normal part of life—but when it becomes constant or overwhelming, it can affect sleep, mood, health, and relationships. Awareness is the first step toward change.

Small steps can make a difference:
• Pausing to breathe
• Setting realistic boundaries
• Talking with someone you trust
• Seeking support when stress feels unmanageable

At MMHC, we believe caring for your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health. You don’t have to carry stress alone.

Caring for others can be deeply meaningful—but it can also be exhausting.

Parents and caregivers often carry high levels of stress while putting their own needs last. Therapy offers a space to process, recharge, and build support so you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Caring for yourself is not selfish—it’s essential.

April is Autism Awareness Month, a time to learn, listen, and celebrate the unique strengths of individuals on the autism spectrum.

Autism looks different for every person. For some, it may include sensory sensitivities, communication differences, or challenges with change. For others, it may come with incredible creativity, focus, and problem‑solving abilities. Understanding and acceptance help create environments where individuals and families can thrive.

At MMHC, we support individuals and families with compassionate, individualized care and believe that awareness leads to connection—and connection leads to better support.

Let’s continue building understanding, acceptance, and inclusion in our communities.

Teens don’t always open up during the “serious” moments, sometimes it happens during the silly ones 🤪

If you’re looking for ways to support your teen’s mental health, clinicians often recommend starting with connection over correction:

💚 Create low-pressure connection time (car rides, walks, shared shows, or even goofy selfie moments)
💚 Listen more than you fix: feeling heard builds trust
💚 Normalize emotions: remind them it’s okay to not be okay
💚 Model healthy coping: show them what taking care of yourself looks like
💚 Know when to bring in extra support: therapy can be a safe, neutral space

You don’t have to have all the answers. Showing up consistently matters most.

If your teen or your family could use extra support, we’re here when you’re ready: https://tinyurl.com/p96a3urt
