Yesterday our Administrators, Directors of Nursing, and Social Services leaders came together at the New Brighton Community Center for a full day of learning, discussion, and collaboration.

From diving into workersโ€™ comp basics and union grievance responses to tackling orientation, hiring, and budget planning, the morning was full of great insights. The afternoon brought everyone together for a Minnesota Department of Health panel, group scenario work, and plenty of idea sharing across roles.

Big thanks to everyone who participated and helped make the day both productive and energizing!

Saturday brought in the end of National Assisted Living Week, but also gave us one more chance to surprise a well deserving staff member with our ๐Ÿงก ๐—๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—”๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐Ÿงก!!!

So we are off to Lakeshore Assisted Living, to celebrate the journey of Kerry. Kerry was nominated by her peers this year, and it is not hard to see why. Kerry is full of energy and the positive vibes are apparent to anyone that walks into the building. Kerry exemplifies the motto of the meeting of Care and Customer Service. She is one of the most caring individuals and is always found with a smile on her face.

Starting her journey as an CNA at 17 years old, it's safer to say she has been a caregiver her entire life. A staple at our assisted living, Kerry is a favorite of residents, families, and staff alike.

Help us congratulate Kerry on this well deserved award and try to thank you her in person. That is if you can catch her and she runs to make another special memory for her residents.

Friday brought us Day 6 and the penultimate day of Assisted Living Week 2025. It also brought us a truly special celebration, as our dynamic duo at Edge Assisted Living Heather and Sherri both received the coveted ๐Ÿงก ๐—๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—”๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐Ÿงกin front of staff and residents (who celebrated with matching shirts)!

Heather and Sherri form the Laurels Edge nursing dream team. Their coworkers noted there is no problem too big for them to handle, and they do so calmly to give the best to their residents.

Heather started with Monarch as Oaklawn's LPN coordinator before going back to get her RN. After a brief stint in the acute setting Heather returned to Oaklawn and Ultimately found her calling at Laurels Edge. Her coworker comment she gives 100% to her staff and residents and is the ultimate team player.

Sherri started her career as an EMT and continues this passion to this day. After a stint in the Monarch Float Nurse Pool she found herself drawn to the residents and took up the in house position. Sherri is described as being the calming presence of the group. She is never found at her desk, and is always out interreacting with her residents and the staff.

We couldn't be more proud to have both of you on our team. Congratulations to you both, well earned winners of the ๐Ÿงก ๐—๐—ผ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜† ๐—ผ๐—ณ ๐—–๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ ๐—”๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฑ ๐Ÿงก.
